On March 21, a representative of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District informed about the renovation of Ly Thai To flower garden.
The Ly Thai To flower garden renovation project aims to prevent degradation, supplement urban facilities and equipment, and effectively promote the historical and cultural values of the Hoan Kiem Lake area.
What the public is most interested in is that the Km0 milestone will be installed in the center of the festival yard of Ly Thai To flower garden.
Ly Thai To Flower Garden is located in Trang Tien ward with an area of over 1 hectare. This is a very important public space of Hanoi.
Coming to Hoan Kiem Lake area, almost every tourist visits Ly Thai To flower garden, where there is a statue of King Ly Thai To, the founder of the Ly dynasty, who moved the capital from Hoa Lu to Thang Long.
Ly Thai To Flower Garden has the function of connecting Hoan Kiem Lake with the surrounding area including: Dien Hong Flower Garden, the square space in front of the State Bank and many valuable architectural works in the area.
After more than 20 years of use, the current state of trees is not suitable, the lawn and walking paths have degraded, and need to be renovated to ensure the landscape and functionality.
According to the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District, the renovation and embellishment plan will reorganize the flower garden space into 3 main areas: the Khanh tiet area, the Nha Ken yard area and the flower garden park area. In which, the Khanh tiet area includes the lobby, the Khanh tiet yard and the incense offering yard. The Khanh tiet yard is expanded towards the sidewalk of Dinh Tien Hoang Street, with Km0 located in the center of the yard.
The park and flower garden area will be organized into two main axes, including the Trumpet House-State Bank axis and the President's Office-Children's Palace axis. It is expected that this area will have a water music system along the east-west axis. This space will be replanted with some types of trees to increase the shade and landscape area as well as add a lighting system and some other infrastructure.
Regarding the architectural plan of the Km0 milestone, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District organized the Km0 milestone design competition in 2020 to find suitable architectural ideas.
The renovation and embellishment of Ly Thai To flower garden is expected to start in April and be inaugurated in October 2025.
