Implementing the National Target Program (NTP) for sustainable poverty reduction in the 2021-2025 period, Binh Phu commune, Phu Ninh district has made efforts to implement many synchronous solutions, creating an important "support" to help poor households improve their lives, contributing to promoting socio-economic development.

Mushroom growing has long been thriving because this profession takes advantage of agricultural by-products such as straw after harvesting rice, creating jobs for local idle workers, contributing to increasing income for farmers. Realizing the benefits that mushrooms bring, implementing Sub-project 1 - Project 4 under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Phu Ninh district coordinated with the International Vocational College to open a training course on mushroom growing techniques for 35 students in Binh Phu commune, who are poor, near-poor, and newly escaped-poverty households from late September to mid-November 2024.
By participating in the course, students are equipped with knowledge about mushroom types; mushroom growing and care techniques, harvesting operations, post-harvest cleaning and disinfection... It is expected that after each course, each student with only a mushroom growing area of 15-20m2 can produce 20-40kg of mushrooms, and can produce 4-6 batches a year. "Growing mushrooms, in addition to increasing income, solving employment problems for people during the off-season, contributing to poverty reduction, also takes advantage of straw, creating a quantity of organic fertilizer after production to supply to crops", said Ms. Do Thi Mui (zone 5, Binh Phu commune) - a student of the class.
In addition to mushroom growing classes, the local government and mass organizations regularly coordinate with the district Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the district and provincial Agricultural Extension Centers... to open training classes, vocational training, provide knowledge on animal husbandry, cultivation, application of science and technology in production for farmers, and support farmers with high-yield crop varieties.
Identifying poverty reduction and improving people's lives as one of the top priorities, the Party Committee and the communal government regularly encourage, motivate and support people to promote the application of scientific and technological advances in production, business and multi-industry development. The mechanisms and policies to support poverty reduction of the Central Government, the province and the district have been implemented synchronously in the commune, especially the mechanisms related to infrastructure investment, loans for production development..., creating a basic premise for poor and near-poor households to improve their lives.
Comrade Ha Ke Tai - Chairman of Binh Phu Commune People's Committee said: First of all, the commune assesses and surveys the support needs of poor and near-poor households as well as classifies poor households to have appropriate and specific support policies for each household. At the same time, it receives and effectively uses policies and support resources from the State and society to act as a "lever" to help people escape poverty sustainably.
In the first 6 months of 2024, the rate of regular workers out of the total number of workers in the commune reached 97%, the rate of trained workers reached 76%, 75 workers had new jobs. The total number of poor households in the commune decreased to 67 households (1.95%); near-poor households 61 households (1.78%). The People's Committee of the commune has created conditions for people to borrow capital from the District Social Policy Bank, An Dao Credit Fund... with a total outstanding debt of over 366 billion VND. Currently, in the commune, there are 238 households producing and doing business in the fields of: Carpentry, aluminum and glass, mechanics, welding, auto and motorbike repair, restaurants, motels, eateries, groceries, garments, artificial sports fields... bringing in a good income for the people.
Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions, up to now, the material and spiritual life of people in Binh Phu commune has been increasingly improved, and the rural appearance is increasingly prosperous.
