Nearly a month since the basic salary increased from 1.8 million VND to 2.34 million VND, pension increased by 15%, regional minimum wage also increased from 200,000 VND to 280,000 VND, the market after the salary increase has not fluctuated much, prices are kept at a fairly stable level. Currently, the Quang Ninh Industry and Trade Department is continuing to implement many solutions to ensure control and stabilization of the market.
Nearly a month has passed since the salary increase, and market prices have basically remained stable. Commodities such as vegetables, rice, oil, milk, etc. have not shown any signs of “price increases” as many had speculated. The only exception is pork, which has seen a clear increase in price. However, this is due to the African swine fever epidemic spreading throughout the country, causing a decrease in supply, not due to “following” the salary increase.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, a trader at Ha Long I market (Ha Long city), said: Currently, we import 70,000 VND/kg of live pigs, 100,000 VND/kg of pork butt and shoulder, 140,000 VND/kg of pork belly... The price fluctuations like this are not after the time of wage increase but since the end of June related to the problem of swine fever causing many pigs to die, many households are afraid so they do not re-herd, the supply is less so the price is also higher. According to our trading experience, as long as the epidemic is controlled, the price of pork will also decrease.
Not only essential goods, according to preliminary assessment, currently, goods in the province are still very rich and diverse, many goods have many manufacturers and distributors at the same time, both domestic and foreign. Goods produced in the province, especially agricultural products, OCOP are also present on many major distribution channels. E-commerce continues to grow positively and become a priority for many people. At supermarkets and large shopping centers, many promotional programs and consumer stimulus programs are still being implemented. For example, at Go! Ha Long supermarket, many programs are currently running in parallel such as "2000 products are always cheaper", "5% discount for customers with membership cards" ... This also contributes to regulating market prices, consumers have many choices of products within the price range suitable for their budget.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hung, Hong Gai Ward, Ha Long City, shared: I retired in 2014 and was receiving a pension of 6 million VND. This time, I received an additional 900,000 VND. Although not much, this difference in the context of stable prices, not being inflated according to salaries like now, also helps my family's living expenses to be easier and more complete.
According to the Quang Ninh Statistics Office, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the first 6 months of 2024 is estimated to increase by 13.1% over the same period in 2023. Of which, retail sales of goods in the first 6 months increased by 13.9% over the same period in 2023 and accounted for 58.7% of the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue. Some commodity groups increased sharply: Food and foodstuff increased by 12.4%; household appliances and equipment increased by 14.3%; cultural and educational items increased by 36.9%; wood and construction materials increased by 21.1%; Gasoline and oil of all kinds increased by 13.5%... These figures come from the favorable economic situation of the province, production and business activities have developed quite well, most of the goods and service businesses in the province have recorded high growth in the number of customers coming to visit and shop.
According to the analysis of many economic experts, this salary increase was made after the Government carefully considered the possibility of controlling inflation. The Government aims that this salary increase can help improve the lives of workers. This means that the Government is closely monitoring the market to have timely adjustment measures.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: As soon as we received information about the salary increase, we worked with many suppliers, supermarkets, and large commercial centers in the area, recommending increasing supply to ensure price maintenance; promoting the introduction of domestically produced goods of Quang Ninh to the market, participating in large distribution channels to increase access to consumers... Thanks to that, up to now, market prices have been basically maintained stable.
Currently, the Industry and Trade sector is also closely following the market, avoiding imbalances in supply and demand, ensuring smooth supply, circulation and distribution of goods. At the same time, it will also strengthen inspection, supervision and strictly handle acts such as speculation, hoarding, hoarding, price inflation... especially during the holidays from now until the end of the year.
