Proud to contribute to the victory
In March, together with the whole country, the Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of all ethnic groups in Yen Bai province strived to compete in labor and production, achieving many outstanding achievements to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), and the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025). In that joyful and exciting atmosphere, every Yen Bai resident recalled the heroic years of "cutting through Truong Son to save the country" of the whole nation.
With the spirit of "All for the beloved South", the armed forces and people of all ethnic groups in Yen Bai province overcame all difficulties, concentrated human and material resources to support the frontline, contributing with the people of the whole country to create the extremely glorious historic victory of April 30, defeating the invading American imperialists, unifying the country, and leading the country to socialism.
Accordingly, in 1967 - 1968, the Party Committee and people of Yen Bai province built 4 battalions named Yen Ninh with nearly 3,000 soldiers trained in Tan Huong commune, Yen Binh district to support the southern battlefield. Of which, Yen Ninh Battalion 1 was established in July 1967, with over 700 officers and soldiers, mainly children of ethnic minorities in Yen Bai province.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Tinh (born in 1949, in Hop Minh ward, Yen Bai city) - a soldier of Yen Ninh Battalion 1 recalled that at that time he had just turned 18 years old, the burning spirit of revolutionary struggle urged him to go fight the American invaders. In this enlistment period, most of the soldiers were only 18 - 20 years old, a few were 25 - 27 years old (comrades in the agency were called to join the army). Many comrades who were only 17 years old also volunteered to join the army. The movement against American imperialism among the youth was very high, it felt like anyone who did not join the army would feel bored and unhappy.
After 5 months of training, on December 10, 1967, the Battalion held a ceremony to send 635 comrades to the Southern battlefield, while 85 comrades stayed behind to serve as framework cadres to prepare for the next Yen Ninh battalions.
Soldiers of Yen Ninh Battalion 1 were assigned to two different battlefields in the Central Highlands and the Southeast. After that, they participated in major campaigns such as the Mau Than General Offensive and Uprising in 1968...
At 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, the revolutionary flag was flying over the Independence Palace. We soldiers were so happy, tears of happiness flowed. He felt proud to have contributed a small part to the victory of the nation, Mr. Tinh shared more.
During the resistance war against the American imperialists to save the country, the people of Yen Bai were proud to have contributed 290,000 tons of food and 150,000 tons of provisions; and sent off nearly 25,000 young men to join the army. Among them, there were 4 battalions named Yen Ninh participating in the fight on all battlefields in the South, contributing with the whole country to the great victory in the Spring of 1975, the peak of which was the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, liberating the South and unifying the country.

After half a century of national reunification, Yen Bai has achieved outstanding achievements in the 2020 - 2025 term and made a strong mark on the victory of the country's innovation cause, laying the foundation to promote a breakthrough for the new term.
Resolution of the 19th Congress, term 2020-2025, Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee determined the goal of developing the province rapidly and sustainably in the direction of "Green, harmony, identity, happiness", becoming a fairly developed province by 2025 and being in the top 5 developing provinces in the Northern Midlands and Mountains by 2030.

Yen Bai Provincial Party Secretary Tran Huy Tuan said that after 4 years of implementing the Resolution, Yen Bai has achieved and exceeded 17/19 targets of the Resolution with highlights such as: The economy has grown quite well, the average GRDP growth rate in the area for the 4 years of 2021-2024 reached 7.54%, ranking 5th/14 provinces in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region; the economic structure continues to shift positively; the socio-economic infrastructure system has received investment attention in a synchronous, focused and key direction.
To date, the province has completed nearly 1,500 urban infrastructure projects, new rural areas, irrigation projects, headquarters, etc., an increase of 25% compared to the previous period; completed 15/26 key projects and works of the term, contributing to creating a breakthrough momentum for the province's socio-economic development.

The province pays attention to and cares for the cultural and social fields. Yen Bai ranks 24th in the country in achieving universal primary education level 3 and 18th in the country in achieving universal secondary education level 2.
The work of protecting and taking care of people's health has made much progress, the average life expectancy and the number of healthy years of the people have been raised. The poverty reduction rate is fast and sustainable, reaching an average of 3.5%/year, exceeding the target of the Congress resolution.
In particular, Yen Bai is the first locality in the country to include the criterion of "happiness" in the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, aiming to build a "Happy Province".
In 2024, the happiness index of Yen Bai people will reach 66.52%, an increase of 0.90% compared to 2023. In order to continue to improve the happiness index for the people, in 2025, Yen Bai strives for the happiness index of the people to reach 68.3%. Of which, the life satisfaction index will reach 58.66%; the satisfaction index about average life expectancy will reach 79.21%; the environmental impact assessment index of the place where they live will reach 68.03%.
Ms. Ngo Thi Quy, Yen Ninh ward shared that thanks to the attention of the Party, the State and Yen Bai province, people's lives have improved significantly. Yen Bai people are increasingly enjoying basic social services. People's lives have been improved, especially the disadvantaged in society have been given more attention, stabilizing their housing, production and increasing their income. Cultural, physical education and sports activities have been promoted to help people enjoy, connect, love and share.
“With the above results, Yen Bai strives to fulfill the goal of becoming a fairly developed province in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region as set out in the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025,” affirmed the Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee.
Together with the whole country, Yen Bai is entering the 50th Spring of Reunification with a new mindset, new motivation, and new determination. The Party Committee, government, armed forces, and people of all ethnic groups in the province join hands, unite, and strive to compete, work, study, and achieve even greater achievements in all fields, for the goal of "rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization".
