Teachers in Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City wonder why they have not received preferential allowances for their jobs

Responding to reporters, some primary school teachers in Tan Binh district said that in recent months, they were excited because teachers' salaries had been increased due to the increase in basic salary to VND2,340,000. However, in the past 2 months, from September 2024 to October 2024 (currently having received September and October 2024 salaries), these primary school teachers have not yet received the preferential allowance. Currently, the preferential allowance for teachers is regulated at 35% for primary school teachers in the city.

From July 1, 2024, the salary calculation formula for managers, teachers, and direct caregivers in preschool classes = {Salary coefficient + (Salary coefficient + Position allowance if any + Seniority allowance if any) x percentage of professional allowance} x VND 2,340,000.

On the afternoon of October 15, a junior high school teacher in Tan Binh district also said that teachers' salaries have been calculated according to the basic salary increase (VND 2,340,000 from July 1, 2024). However, this teacher and his junior high school colleagues have not received the preferential allowance - 30% for junior high school teachers in the city from August 2024 to present.

"We have received our October 2024 salary, and in the past 3 months, from August 2024 to now, we have not received the 30% preferential allowance. We also do not know why. I see that teachers in many other districts in Ho Chi Minh City have received all their new salaries, as well as full preferential allowances," this teacher wondered.

On the afternoon of October 15, in response to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters, the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Tan Binh District said that the Department of Internal Affairs of the district had recently changed its leadership. This week, it will consult with the district chairman, and when a decision is made to pay, it will pay preferential allowances to teachers who are managers and teachers who are directly teaching at public schools in the district.
