Teachers predict that the average score of Math exam will decrease, but the number of scores of 9 and above will not be many.

This afternoon (June 27), candidates taking the 2024 high school graduation exam have just completed the Math exam.

Commenting on exam code 121, Mr. Nguyen Cong Chinh, a math teacher in Hanoi, said that this year's exam has a much higher level of difficulty than in 2023, with differences and higher classification than the 2023 illustration exam. The exam has similarities in structure compared to the 2023 exam, however, the types of questions from 40 onwards have many new and complex features. Overall, this year's exam meets both goals of graduation and can be used as a basis for university admission. In terms of difficulty and classification, it can be seen that it is almost on par with the "historic" 2018 exam.

According to Mr. Chinh, with this test, students can solve the first 38 questions easily and quickly, but there are also "tricky" questions if students do not have a firm grasp of basic knowledge.

Questions 39, 40, 41, 42, 44, 46 are at a fairly easy and familiar level, the more difficult questions are later, from question 39 there is a clear difference compared to the sample test.

Especially the high-level application questions 43, 45, 47, 48, 49, 50 seem new and interesting, not often seen in practice tests. Most of the questions are against the Casio calculator, it is difficult to guess randomly if you do not have good knowledge.

To get a high score, the test requires flexible thinking and a solid understanding of knowledge, proficiency in many types of questions, and lots of practice. It is impossible to memorize or review in a biased way.

"In general, the 2024 Math exam is more difficult than the 2023 exam, second only to the 2018 exam which was considered very difficult," said Mr. Chinh.

Regarding the score distribution, Mr. Nguyen Cong Chinh said that with this exam, the score distribution will mainly be around 7-7.5 points, equivalent to and possibly lower than in 2023. Average students will get about 6-7 points. Good students will get about 7-8 points. It is predicted that there will be quite a lot of scores around 7.5. Students must be really excellent to be able to get 9-10 points, but it is expected that 10 points will not be many and not easy.

According to Mr. Tran Manh Tung, a Math teacher in Hanoi, in test code 114, questions 1 to 35 have 7 points at the recognition and understanding level. The test is familiar, basic, similar to previous years.

Questions 36 - 43 are worth 1.6 points at the application level but are longer and require more calculations than previous years. Even in this part, students need to have a solid grasp of knowledge and good skills to complete them.

Questions 44 - 50 have 1.4 points at the high application level. Although not too unfamiliar, the number of questions is 5 more than every year, the questions are also longer and more complicated, requiring candidates to be really alert and focused to do well.

Teacher Tran Manh Tung also predicted that with this year's exam, the score distribution will decrease compared to last year. Average students will score 6 - 7 points, good students can score 7 - 8 points, and excellent students will score 8 - 9 points.

It is predicted that the number of scores from 9 and above will not be as high as in previous years. The average score is 6 points; the median is 6.3 points. The score that most candidates achieve will be 7.4 points. The exam has enough differentiation to consider candidates for admission to universities.

At the end of the first exam day, tomorrow (June 28), candidates will continue to take the Natural Sciences/Social Sciences exam in the morning, and the Foreign Language exam in the afternoon.
