NDO - Within the framework of the colorful Creative Design Festival 2024, a very popular destination is the old University of General Sciences, now the University of Natural Sciences, a century-old architectural symbol awakened by creative art.
The University building was designed by the talented architect Ernest Hébrard in the Indochinese style, both classic and imbued with Asian features.
With the exhibition "Indochinese Sensation", the over 100-year-old school seems to be a cross between historical space and contemporary creative breath.
During the 2024 Creative Design Festival, the exhibition “Indochina Sensation” offers the public the opportunity to enter the century-old space of this building for the first time and experience a series of vibrant artistic activities.
Right from the main entrance, visitors are captivated by the colorful arched glass windows, creating a giant "glass painting".
In recent days, on social networks, the image of the building's famous dome suddenly went "viral", attracting many young people to come and admire this destination.
Throughout the space, from the main lobby to the corridors and the biological museum, creative works combined with ancient architecture have turned this place into a unique destination.
To ensure an enjoyable experience, each visit is limited to about 15 people, lasting 7-10 minutes. Despite the wait, young people still patiently queued up to experience this unique art space.
One of the main highlights of “Indochinese Sense” is a series of interactive artworks, creating an interesting “dialogue” with the classical Indochinese architectural style.
Artists such as Pham Trung Hung, Tran Hau Yen The and Le Phuoc Anh have transformed the building into a space filled with light and color. In particular, the image of two ancient phoenixes is vividly recreated using 3D mapping technology, as a reminder of the school's glorious past, creating a strong impression on young people.
Entering the main hall, Tran Hau Yen The's light installations on the glass windows on the walls, simulating Indochinese patterns, are symbols of spreading knowledge.
The light shining through the glass frame seems to illuminate the lobby space, evoking the light of knowledge.
At the biological museum - a "magical place" for all children who love to explore, the artworks have been creatively arranged, combined with scientific specimens to create a new experience.
The exhibition also features installations in the hallways and museum, such as silk paintings of insect fossils by artist Nguyen Thu Thao, paintings on dó paper by Nguyen Cam Nhung, and blue-glazed ceramics by Nguyen Thu Thuy - all inspired by the decorative arts of the Indochina period, creating a rich and captivating cultural space.
From the exhibits to the ancient architectural space, the old University has become a “sanctuary of knowledge” awakened by creative art, where the past and present meet, so that every participant can feel the timeless beauty.
This festival has been reviving the Indochina spirit, connecting today's generation with the values of a golden age.
The art exhibition runs until November 17, 2024.
The Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024 with the theme "Creative Crossroads" takes place at many locations such as the University of Science, August Revolution Square, stretching along famous streets such as Ly Thai To, Le Thanh Tong and Bac Co slope.
Famous historical buildings such as Hanoi Children's Palace, Opera House, and National History Museum are also decorated and participating in this series of events. It can be seen that the event has brought a different experience space, helping the community to appreciate history more and inspire creativity, contributing to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the Capital.
