On June 2, the Vietnam Education Publishing House (NXBGDVN) announced that for the 2024-2025 school year, the Publishing House will adjust the selling price of reprinted textbooks (grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11). At the same time, it will set the selling price of textbooks for grades 5, 9, and 12 (published in the first year) according to the reduced price structure of reprinted textbooks.
Textbook prices to decrease by 9.6-11.2% in the 2024-2025 school year
For reprinted textbooks (grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11) of the 2018 General Education Program, the Publishing House has reviewed related cost items, especially costs of organizing manuscripts and circulation costs to reduce textbook prices.
Accordingly, the new cover prices of reprinted textbooks applied from the 2024-2025 school year have been adjusted down compared to previous years. Specifically, the cover price of the textbook set "Connecting knowledge with life" has decreased by 9.6%, the cover price of the textbook set "Creative horizon" has decreased by 11.2%.
For textbook prices for grades 5, 9, and 12, NXBGDVN has built prices according to the reduced price structure of reprinted textbooks.
The prices of textbooks for each grade have been declared by the Vietnam Education Publishing House to the Price Management Department - Ministry of Finance in accordance with regulations.
Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training on strictly controlling production costs, reducing costs to reduce textbook prices, supporting consumers, ensuring social security, implementing the recommendations in Resolution 686 of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Vietnam Education Publishing House has adjusted to reduce textbook prices. This is a great effort of the entire Vietnam Education Publishing House system to have the lowest textbook prices, for the purpose of supporting students and teachers, ensuring social security.
"On June 1, 2024, at the regular Government meeting in May 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that the average 15% reduction in textbook prices has contributed to reducing inflationary pressure and stabilizing the CPI index. To ensure accuracy, clarity, and protect the rights of students and users, the new textbook price list has been fully and publicly posted at textbook sales points nationwide; on the general electronic information website of the Vietnam Education Publishing House (at www.nxbgd.vn) and information on mass media according to regulations" - said the representative of the Publishing House.
Also according to the Vietnam Education Publishing House, in order to create a source of learning and teaching materials for students and teachers to use together in school libraries, in the 2024-2025 school year, the Publishing House plans to donate about 1,000 Textbook Cabinets for shared use to primary and secondary schools in disadvantaged areas, remote areas, border areas, and islands with a total cover price of about 30 billion VND.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the Vietnam Education Publishing House has launched a program to donate 1,000 shared textbook cabinets to primary schools in disadvantaged areas nationwide.
