ANTD.VN - The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that this electricity price adjustment affects different customer groups, depending on the consumption level and electricity usage behavior of each group.
Details of retail electricity prices for customers |
According to Decision No. 2699/QD-BCT dated October 11, 2024 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade regulating electricity prices, after this adjustment, the lowest retail price of electricity at level 1 for the first 50kWh will be 1,893 VND/kWh and the highest price at level 6, from kWh 401 and above, will be 3,302 VND/kWh.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, for non-residential customers: The Ministry of Industry and Trade calculates that there are currently about 547 thousand customers who are service businesses, paying an average of 5.17 million VND per month for electricity. After the adjustment, each month will pay an additional 247,000 VND.
The production unit has 1.921 million production households, paying an average of 10.38 million VND per month. After adjustment, the electricity bill increased by 499,000 VND/month.
Administrative and career units: About 691 thousand administrative and career customers, paying an average of 1.93 million VND per month. After adjustment, increased by 91,000 VND/month.
Residential customer group:
The current rate of household electricity usage is divided into consumption levels, from low to high, as follows:
Level of electricity usage per month | Number of households | Household ratio 2023 | Electricity price according to Decision 2941/QD-BCT (VND/kWh) | New electricity price (according to Decision 2699/QD-BCT) (VND/kWh) | Additional electricity bill (VND) | |
1 | Level 1: For kWh from 0 - 50 | 3,265,977 | 11.51% | 1,806 | 1,893 | 4,350 |
2 | Level 2: For kWh from 51 - 100 | 4,409,286 | 15.53% | 1,866 | 1,956 | 8,850 |
3 | Level 3: For kWh from 101 - 200 | 9,738,699 | 34.31% | 2,167 | 2,271 | 19,250 |
4 | Level 4: For kWh from 201 - 300 | 5,250,612 | 18.50% | 2,729 | 2,860 | 32,350 |
5 | Level 5: For kWh from 301 - 400 | 2,517,889 | 8.87% | 3,050 | 3,197 | 47,050 |
6 | Level 6: For kWh from 401 and up | 3,202,320 | 11.28% | 3.151 | 3.302 | 62,150 |
After the electricity price increase, customers using electricity for daily life will have to pay an additional 4,350-62,150 VND/month.
For common household customers (200 kWh/month or less), according to calculations by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the total number of household customers using electricity from 200 kWh/month or less is 17.41 million households, corresponding to 61.35% of the total number of households using electricity for household use.
According to calculations, the average additional electricity bill for each household consuming 200 kWh/month or less is 13,800 VND/household.
Thus, the impact on common household customers (consuming less than 200 kWh/month) is moderate, while customer groups with higher electricity consumption will suffer a more significant increase.
With this adjustment of electricity prices, the State still has support policies for poor households and social policy households on the current electricity bill issue implemented according to Decision No. 28/2014/QD-TTg dated April 7, 2014 of the Prime Minister.
Accordingly, poor households are supported with monthly electricity bills equivalent to the amount of electricity used by 30kWh/household/month. For social policy households with electricity usage of no more than 50kWh/month, the support level is also equivalent to the amount of electricity used by 30kWh/household/month. The support level for poor policy households (applied according to Decision 2941/QD-BCT dated November 8, 2023 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade) is 59,500 VND/household/month. If applied according to the new price, each poor household will be supported with electricity bills of about 62,500 VND/household/month.
