According to experts, coffee prices fluctuate due to the influence of supply and demand, exchange rate fluctuations, financial speculation...
"Although there will still be fluctuations, there are many reasons to believe that coffee prices in the short term can still be at a good level, especially when supply is reduced and major producing countries like Brazil have not entered the season. In particular, many Vietnamese farmers are still holding on to their products or only selling small quantities," said Mr. Do Ha Nam, vice president of the Coffee - Cocoa Association.
Many businesses believe that in the medium term, if the weather in major growing regions such as Vietnam and Brazil is favorable, Robusta and Arabica coffee production will improve, thereby creating downward pressure on the market. In the long term, inflation, global consumption demand, climate change... are major factors affecting prices.
Robusta coffee is popular because of its better price.
According to many businesses, the price of Robusta coffee is about 3,000 USD/ton lower than Arabica coffee, which makes many roasters prefer to buy Robusta.
With about 95% of the coffee supply being Robusta, and a coffee with a special flavor, Vietnam has reason to believe that the world market will still strongly choose to buy Vietnamese products.
