About 20,000 people, mainly students from northern provinces and cities, flocked to Hanoi to receive instructions for this year's graduation exam and university entrance exam.
The admissions consulting program organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper all day on March 17 at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. From 7am, the area of Tran Dai Nghia Street, Hai Ba Trung District, became crowded.
Waking up at 4:30, Tran Thanh Mai, from Luc Nam High School, Bac Giang Province, and her friends arrived at 8:00. Mai said the school organized for 12th grade students in need, picking them up and dropping them off in 7-8 29-seat cars, with tour guides.
"This is the first time I've attended an event this crowded," Mai said, overwhelmed as she had to squeeze through the crowd at the entrance.
Female students interested in language majors should visit the booths of Hanoi University, Foreign Languages, Social Sciences and Humanities. Mai said that she will use her high school transcript and graduation exam scores for admission.

Ta Tuan Minh, a 12th grade IT major at Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted, went to Hanoi with a group of friends. Minh said he aimed to pass the IT1 major at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, so he came to learn mainly about this major.
The male student commented that the program's atmosphere was lively and had many activities. "I was very excited, getting advice, playing games, and receiving gifts from the schools," Minh said.
According to the organizers, this year’s festival had nearly 280 booths from more than 100 universities, academies, centers and educational organizations – the largest number ever. An estimated 20,000 people attended the event, mostly students.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Tra, lecturer at the Institute of Journalism and Communication, Academy of Journalism and Communication, sees the admissions consultation day as an opportunity for schools to directly meet and answer questions from students and parents. Ms. Tra said that many students are not afraid to express their passion, so this is also an opportunity for teachers to encourage and motivate them.
"I am very happy and excited because the event went smoothly. The number of students and parents participating seems to be larger than last year," said Ms. Tra.
At the consulting booths, candidates often find information about the program, admission methods, job opportunities in the industry, and scholarship policies. In the central area with experts, issues that students and parents are interested in revolve around the regulations for high school graduation exams; admission procedures; separate exams; some hot industries such as semiconductors...

Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, received many questions related to registering wishes on the Ministry's admission system. Many parents are concerned that negligence could cause their children to fail the university entrance exam.
Ms. Thuy affirmed that the Ministry's system is designed to give the most beneficial results for candidates. For each wish, after the candidate enters the major and school, the system will automatically review the data that the candidate has, including the method, combination, test score... If the candidate is qualified for any method, the system will return the admission result.
"With such principles, the Ministry's admission regulations will remain stable in 2024 and even the following years," said Ms. Thuy.
However, she noted that with early admission methods, candidates need to follow each school's own plan. Early admission data will be sent by schools to the Ministry's system. In addition, students need to pay attention to the order of their wishes, because the system will consider them in turn, and candidates who are admitted to the first wish will not be considered for the following wishes.
"In previous years, there were candidates who passed their second choice but wanted to study their fifth choice and asked to change. This is not allowed," Ms. Thuy said, emphasizing that candidates should prioritize their favorite major to their highest choice, to avoid the case of passing a major they do not like.
Candidates will be familiarized with the university application process before filling out the official application. The practice session is expected to take place after the high school graduation exam.
"Don't worry, do your best to complete the graduation exam first, then move on to the admission process," said Ms. Thuy.

Regarding the high school graduation exam, Mr. Le My Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management, reminded candidates to pay attention to the adjustments regarding items that can and cannot be brought into the exam room.
In previous years, the Ministry did not prohibit candidates from bringing recording devices into the exam room that can only record information but cannot transmit or receive information. But this year, all communication devices are prohibited.
"Teachers and parents need to remind candidates of this. They themselves also need to be aware of the regulations," said Mr. Phong, adding that last year 41 candidates were suspended from the exam for not complying with this.
