According to Neowin , Epic Games continues to expand its reach in the gaming industry. Accordingly, the company that created the popular free-to-play game Fortnite has just announced the acquisition of Brazil-based developer AQUIRIS.
According to a press release about the deal, Epic previously invested in AQUIRIS in early 2022. Now, the studio has been fully acquired by Epic and renamed Epic Games Brazil. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed by both parties.
Epic Games buys more studios to develop Fortnite
Before merging with Epic Games, AQUIRIS was known as the studio behind the mobile game Wonderbox for iOS owners, along with other titles like Horizon Chase and Looney Tunes World of Mayhem . Epic Games said those games will still be supported in the future. Epic Games Brazil will take on the work of supporting new content creation for Fortnite.
Epic Games has acquired a number of game development companies over the past few years. Some of them have been companies that make game development tools like RAD Game Tools and SuperAwesome. The company has also bought game development studios like Mediatonic, which made Fall Guys , and Psyonix, the studio behind Rocket League .
