According to a VNA reporter in Berlin, the Joint Statement includes 7 points, emphasizing that Germany will continue to support Ukraine politically, financially, humanitarianly and militarily as long as necessary.

The support policy will be implemented on a bilateral basis as well as within the framework of international cooperation in the European Union (EU), the Group of Seven (G7), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the United Nations (UN) and other formats.

The statement stressed that Germany has made an unprecedented and diverse military contribution to Ukraine, providing a wide range of weapons systems - including high-quality and effective anti-aircraft missile and weapon systems, Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 main battle tanks, Marder infantry fighting vehicles , armored vehicles, artillery systems, air surveillance and artillery detection radars, as well as tons of ammunition for combat vehicles, artillery, anti-aircraft shells and other ammunition.

Germany and Ukraine have also cooperated to establish repair and maintenance facilities for transferred weapons systems.

In 2023 and beyond, Germany plans to provide a total of more than 11 billion euros in aid to Ukraine to continue providing military support to the Eastern European country.

The new package of arms assistance tailored to Ukraine’s needs will help Kiev strengthen its defense capabilities. The two sides affirmed that meetings at the Ramstein base (Germany) of the Defense Contact Group for Ukraine are an important forum for coordinating military and defense assistance to Ukraine.

In addition, Germany continues to actively contribute to EU measures through the European Peace Fund, aimed at providing military support to Ukraine.

In addition to military assistance, Germany has provided Ukraine with extensive civilian assistance, including financial and humanitarian assistance as well as emergency assistance, including reconstruction of destroyed civilian infrastructure, roads and bridges; and support for Kiev in repairing and rebuilding damaged energy and water infrastructure.

To date, Germany has accepted more than 1 million refugees from Ukraine.

Since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Berlin has provided Kiev with various forms of assistance totaling 17 billion euros.

In the joint statement, the leaders of Germany and Ukraine also called on Russia to quickly withdraw its troops from Ukraine, and supported Kiev's initiative for a just and lasting peace, in accordance with the United Nations Charter, based on Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

During his visit to Germany, President Zelensky also met with his host country counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin./.
