Bringing Vietnam - Cuba relations to a new stage of development together

On the afternoon of April 16, at the Revolution Palace in Havana, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang met with Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang conveyed the warm regards and invitation to visit Vietnam from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other senior leaders of Vietnam to Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang congratulated Cuba on its important achievements in the current context of many difficulties and challenges; expressed his belief that the Cuban people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba headed by Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel, will continue to reap more victories and successes in the cause of building socialism in Cuba.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed Vietnam's consistent stance of always being united and supporting Cuba, opposing and calling for an end to the policy of siege and embargo against Cuba.

The First Secretary and President of Cuba welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on his first official visit to Cuba, demonstrating the special affection and concern of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for the special traditional friendship between the two countries, which is a source of encouragement for Cuba's revolutionary cause.

Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel affirmed that the Cuba-Vietnam relationship is a special relationship between two peoples with a common history, fighting for national liberation and building socialism, always respecting each other, guided by the thoughts of Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro. That relationship has always been consolidated and developed in the spirit of frankness, mutual trust and has affirmed its strategic importance in the current context.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang informed Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel about the results of talks and working sessions with Cuban Government leaders and made a number of specific proposals to continue promoting comprehensive, substantive and effective cooperation between the two countries.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the need to create mechanisms and measures to remove difficulties and further enhance bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation, effectively implement cooperation projects, especially in the agricultural sector, thereby contributing to tightening the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.

Recalling the good impressions of Vietnam and memories of his visits to Vietnam in 2013 and 2018, the First Secretary and President of Cuba congratulated Vietnam on its recent political, foreign affairs, economic and social achievements, and sincerely thanked the Party, Government and people of Vietnam for their sharing and support for Cuba in the current special context, through maintaining a stable commercial supply of rice and technical support to improve food and seafood production.

Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel highly appreciated the joint venture and investment projects of Vietnamese enterprises in Cuba, thereby actively and effectively contributing to the stability and economic development of Cuba; affirmed that Cuba always cares about and creates favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises operating and investing in Cuba in the fields of trade, consumer goods production, renewable energy, construction materials and industrial park infrastructure.

Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel expressed his hope that more Vietnamese enterprises would cooperate with Cuba in agriculture and food processing, energy, automobile industry, bio-pharmaceuticals and medical services to effectively promote the strengths of each country, bringing the Vietnam-Cuba relationship to a new stage of development together.
