Outstanding social policy credit balance among ethnic minorities reaches nearly 2,548 billion VND

On the morning of July 31, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) Hoang Minh Te inspected the implementation of social policy credit work in ethnic minority areas in the province.

According to data from the Dak Lak Branch of the Social Policy Bank, up to this point, the total outstanding social policy credit balance in Dak Lak province has reached more than 6,877 billion VND, an increase of more than 547 billion VND compared to the end of 2022.

Outstanding loans of ethnic minority credit programs alone are nearly VND2,548 billion, with 74,999 customers still in debt. Credit quality is effectively controlled, with overdue and frozen debts accounting for only 0.14% of total outstanding loans.

At the meeting, comrade Hoang Minh Te assessed that Dak Lak province has paid attention to directing the implementation of credit programs of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies; the scale and quality of credit in the province has increased significantly, contributing significantly to poverty reduction, especially poverty reduction in ethnic minority areas.

In the coming time, the province needs to further promote the role and responsibility of local Party committees and authorities in social policy credit work to make it easier for people to access capital; focus on vocational training so that people can use loans effectively. At the same time, the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, socio-political organizations and loan group leaders need to monitor the use of loans by borrowers to ensure the right purpose in order to increase income for poor and near-poor households and other policy beneficiaries.

During the working program, the delegation inspected the implementation of social policy credit work in ethnic minority areas in Ea Yong commune (Krong Pac district). This locality has more than 4,000 households, with 19,153 people, of which 47.9% are ethnic minorities. Up to this point, the total outstanding policy credit balance in the commune has reached more than 33 billion VND, an increase of 1.1 billion VND compared to the end of 2022.

The working delegation visited borrowers who are ethnic minorities and inspected and grasped the situation of loan use by customers.
