Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism earns nearly 14,000 billion VND in the first quarter of 2025

On March 27, Mr. Cung Quynh Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, said that in the first quarter of 2025, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa welcomed more than 2.5 million overnight guests, an increase of 19.7% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists reached more than 13,850 billion VND, an increase of nearly 21.8% over the same period in 2024.

Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa welcomed more than 1.3 million international visitors in the first quarter of 2025.

Notably, international visitors to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa continued to grow well with more than 1.3 million arrivals, up more than 12.5%; domestic visitors are estimated at more than 1.2 million arrivals, up more than 28.9% over the same period last year.

According to Mr. Cung Quynh Anh, the Korean tourist market has continued to grow steadily and has led the international tourist market to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. In addition, the cruise tourism market has also recorded positive signals when from the beginning of January 2025 to now, Khanh Hoa has welcomed 10 international cruise ships with more than 15,758 tourists coming ashore for sightseeing.

According to the registration schedule from shipping lines, by December 2025, Khanh Hoa will welcome 16 trips with about 29,850 passengers. This is a positive signal for the recovery and development of Khanh Hoa's cruise tourism activities, contributing to the success of the tourism industry.

Russian tourists continue to increase again

According to Mr. Cung Quynh Anh, in the first quarter of 2025, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism has recorded the return of Russian tourists with direct flights.

Direct flights from Russia have returned to the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa market.

Previously, Russia was a traditional international tourist market for Vietnam tourism in general and Khanh Hoa in particular. In particular, Khanh Hoa was one of the favorite destinations that this group of tourists prioritized.

In 2019, Khanh Hoa welcomed about 463,000 Russian visitors, accounting for 71.6% of the total number of Russian visitors to Vietnam (646,524 visitors). Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, flights from Russia to Khanh Hoa have been suspended for a long time.

When Vietnam reopened to international visitors after the Covid-19 pandemic, Russian tourists who wanted to travel to Khanh Hoa had to fly from Kazakhstan, China... so the number of visitors was not large.

“After many efforts, in March, the Russian national airline Aeroflot launched a commercial flight route from Moscow to Cam Ranh with a frequency of 3 flights/week. Anex Vietnam Trade and Tourism Company Limited cooperated with Azur Air (Russia) to operate charter flights from 11 cities in Russia to Khanh Hoa with a frequency of 12 flights in March and will increase to 50-55 flights/month from April to June; 90-100 flights/month from July onwards. These are positive signals that will help Khanh Hoa tourism reach its goals set for 2025 early,” said Mr. Cung Quynh Anh.

In addition, the Kazakhstan tourist market is also forecast to have good growth when Air Astana operates the Almaty - Cam Ranh route with a frequency of 4 flights/week and the Astana - Cam Ranh route with a frequency of 3 flights/week from the end of March, increasing the flight frequency from Kazakhstan to Khanh Hoa to 14 flights/week. Russian tourists when coming to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa often stay for a long time at 3-5 star resorts and hotels in Bai Dai (Cam Lam district) and Nha Trang city. During their stay in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa, visitors will go on tours to visit Nha Trang city, Nha Trang bay, have fun at VinWonders Nha Trang, Orchid Island Tourist Area...

Also according to the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, in 2025, the province's tourism industry aims to welcome 11.8 million visitors, including 5.2 million international visitors, 6.6 million domestic visitors, with tourism revenue reaching 60,000 billion VND.

To achieve these goals, the provincial tourism industry has stepped up promotional activities to attract tourists from international markets: Korea, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, etc.

In the first quarter of 2025, Khanh Hoa welcomed 10 international cruise ships with more than 15,758 tourists coming ashore for sightseeing.

Mr. Cung Quynh Anh added that Khanh Hoa currently has about 1,200 accommodation establishments with about 60,000 rooms, so the province's tourism industry is capable of meeting the accommodation needs of international visitors.

“Even if the Russian or Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) tourist markets increase, it will not affect the Korean and Chinese tourist markets, which are the two leading international tourist markets of Khanh Hoa. Regarding human resources, to support businesses in welcoming a large number of Russian, Korean and Chinese tourists, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will organize training courses, create conditions for tour guides to exchange their cards so that they can guide this group of tourists,” Mr. Cung Quynh Anh affirmed.
