Eliminating Hoang Anh Gia Lai, The Cong Viettel enters the National Cup semi-finals

Before the confrontation in the quarter-finals of the 2024-2025 National Cup, Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club was rated lower than The Cong Viettel. However, despite having to play away, the team from the mountain town still took the initiative and attacked very actively.

In the first minutes of the match, coach Le Quang Trai's team created some notable dangerous situations by Jairo or Chau Ngoc Quang. Unfortunately, neither of the duo could convert them into goals.

The most notable situation in the first half was Minh Vuong's classy shot into the net of The Cong Viettel in the 28th minute. However, after consulting VAR, the referee did not recognize the goal for Hoang Anh Gia Lai because Ngoc Quang was offside before.

As soon as the second half began, both teams immediately attacked to gain an advantage. The team that got what they needed was the home team The Cong Viettel, thanks to Khuat Van Khang's opening goal in the 64th minute.

With the advantage, coach Nguyen Duc Thang's team played better and Tien Anh was the one who brought the next series of dangerous opportunities for the home team but could not take advantage of them effectively.

On the other side of the field, the away team Hoang Anh Gia Lai tried to attack to save the game, but at the 90+8 minute, Tran Danh Trung, despite just being put on the field, scored a great goal to seal a 2-0 victory for The Cong Viettel Club.

Thus, with this result, The Cong Viettel Club won the right to continue to the semi-finals of the 2024-2025 National Cup while Hoang Anh Gia Lai officially stopped.
