The 2024-2025 school year will see significant changes in the 10th grade enrollment picture at public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City. Public 10th grade admission rate increases, but unevenly
According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, it is expected that at least 70% of junior high school students will continue to study at public high schools, an increase from 65% last year.
It is noted that some schools increased their quotas, such as Vinh Loc B High School recruiting 765 (an increase of 135 quotas); Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School recruiting 285 (an increase of 80 quotas);...
School principals said that the quota for grade 10 depends on the number of grade 12 graduates. As many grade 12 graduates as there are students, that number will be accepted.
However, in reality, this change is not uniform across schools. Some schools plan to reduce enrollment targets, while others plan to increase them.
Up to now, Thanh Da High School is the school that has reduced its 10th grade quota the most, more than 300 students. Next is Phuoc Long High School, Tay Thanh, both reduced by 225 students.
This year, the city has about 90,000 ninth graders graduating from junior high school. The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025 school year is scheduled to take place on June 6 and 7, 2025, with three compulsory subjects: Math, Literature and Foreign Language. This is an important exam, marking a turning point in the students' learning journey.
