Speaking at the conference, Father Giuse Tran Xuan Manh said that 2024 is the first year that the Vietnam Catholic Church implements the Resolution of the 8th Congress of Vietnamese Catholics for National Construction and Defense. Looking back over the past year, the Vietnam Catholic Church has organized a series of innovative steps that have been evaluated as successful, such as: Training conferences, discussion conferences, conferences to exchange emulation work in regions across the country, etc.

“Through concrete actions, we are gradually asserting ourselves in our assigned roles and tasks with the trust of Catholics across the country. In that spirit, we will continue to promote the achievements we have made. At the same time, we will frankly point out some difficulties and shortcomings to draw lessons from experience,” said Father Tran Xuan Manh.

Reporting on the results of the patriotic emulation movement among Catholics, Father Peter Phan Dinh Son - Vice President of the Vietnam Catholic Bishops' Conference said that 2024 is the year when the patriotic emulation movement among Catholics will be promoted, improved in quality and directed towards parishes. A typical example is the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas, live a good life and follow the religion" launched by the Vietnam Catholic Bishops' Conference and has been enthusiastically responded to by the Vietnam Catholic Bishops' Conferences in provinces and cities. The movement of voluntarily donating land, dismantling surrounding walls, contributing working days and money, and expanding rural roads has been widely spread, contributing to making the appearance of the homeland, parishes and parishes increasingly clean and beautiful.

Catholics in urban areas have actively participated in emulation movements to clean up streets, beautify urban areas, protect the environment, and participate in preventing social evils.

According to Father Phan Dinh Son, with the spirit of joining hands and contributing to the cause of developing education in the country, many nuns' religious orders have promoted their strengths in participating in the socialization of education. Including localities such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Lam Dong, Da Nang, Thua Thien - Hue, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Hanoi... nuns' religious orders have actively participated in the field of developing preschool education and nurseries. In Lam Dong province alone, there are currently 90 private preschools established and managed by Catholic nuns' orders with thousands of children.

Catholics also actively participate in medical examination and treatment activities for the poor and community health care by organizing mobile medical examination and treatment campaigns and at charity clinics conducted by priests, nuns and lay people in many localities...

Accordingly, two additional members of the Vietnam Catholic Bishops' Conference were added: Father Nguyen Thanh Dung - President of the Vietnam Catholic Bishops' Conference of Ben Tre Province and Father Dang Dang Nguyen - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Catholic Bishops' Conference of Ben Tre Province.
