This is the goal towards completion of the "smokeless industry" as specifically stated in the announcement of the results of the Conference summarizing the work of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2023, deploying tasks for 2024, which has just been issued. Accordingly, compared to last year's plan (welcoming 6.72 million visitors and achieving revenue of 16,500 billion VND), the basic targets in the tourism sector set for 2024 by the industry are outstanding. However, with the actual conditions and situation, the goal of welcoming an increased number of visitors as well as maintaining the "top" in revenue from tourism activities for the destination of Binh Thuan is feasible, although there are still many difficulties and challenges ahead.

Looking back on the past year, Binh Thuan has shown a strong transformation by taking advantage of many favorable factors: Hosting the 2023 National Tourism Year "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence", the expressway section Dau Giay - Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao was officially put into operation, promoting the strengths of sea and island tourism... With activities taking place throughout the year, the local tourism industry recorded very impressive results: The whole province welcomed 8.35 million visitors with total revenue reaching 22,300 billion VND, compared to the previous year, an increase of approximately 46% in the number of visitors and 63% in revenue.

Leaders of the Provincial People's Committee gave lucky money to the first visitors of Binh Thuan at Phan Thiet Station on the first day of the Lunar New Year.

Entering 2024, it can be said that the bold setting of quite high targets shows the confidence and determination to complete the efforts of the "smokeless industry" of the province. Because according to Resolution No. 06 of the Provincial Party Committee (term XIV) on tourism development to 2025, with a vision to 2030, Binh Thuan sets a target to strive for by 2025: "Welcoming 8.9 million visitors, of which international visitors account for 10 - 12%. Revenue from tourism activities reaches 23,300 billion VND...". Therefore, to reach the record numbers so far, the locality and the whole industry need to focus on effectively promoting advantages, promoting and increasing the competitiveness of destinations. At the same time, proactively "renewing" the image with attractive and unique activities and events and continuing to implement appropriate tourism stimulus discount programs, thereby contributing to maintaining the growth rate of the industry.

A positive signal is that in January 2024, although it did not coincide with the Lunar New Year, Binh Thuan tourism still welcomed nearly 570,000 visitors and increased by 1.4% compared to the last month of last year with revenue reaching nearly 1,630 billion VND. In particular, the number of international visitors to the locality for vacation in the first month of this year has grown again with about 42,500 arrivals, up 1.8% compared to the previous month and 2.1 times higher than the same period last year (in which Korean and Chinese visitors accounted for the highest proportion). During the 7-day Lunar New Year holiday from February 8 to 14, 2024, Binh Thuan destination welcomed about 205,000 visitors and guests (up 28% compared to the previous year) and achieved revenue from tourism activities of about 340 billion VND (up 10% compared to the previous year). In general, the average room occupancy rate of hotels and resorts in Binh Thuan during the recent Lunar New Year was quite high, from 75 - 85%...

On the first day of the new year of Giap Thin (the first day of Tet), Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh and industry leaders also came to wish tourists and businesses at the accommodation facilities a happy new year and welcomed and gave lucky money to all visitors to Binh Thuan at Phan Thiet Station. On this occasion, representatives of the provincial leaders acknowledged the efforts to overcome difficulties, and at the same time encouraged the local business community to continue to join hands to contribute to the development of Binh Thuan tourism industry, aiming to complete the two basic targets set in 2024.

It is known that in order to attract more visitors and maintain the "top" in revenue this year, the local tourism industry will soon carry out promotional activities in key international markets, thereby quickly recovering the foreign tourist market to Binh Thuan. Along with that, continue to research and develop tourism in a sustainable direction or destinations in mountainous areas, forests - waterfalls - lakes, and garden houses to contribute to diversifying and enriching tourist destinations as well as promoting the strengths of the locality. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen specialized management, ensure the best environment for tourism activities and build an image, maintain the destination brand of Binh Thuan "Safe - friendly - attractive - quality" ...

Continuing the success of the past year and affirming the image of Vietnamese tourism is increasingly developing sustainably, the Organizing Committee of the National Tourism Year 2023 has also proposed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism continue to choose Binh Thuan to host a number of major events and activities of the Ministry and the National Tourism Administration to create conditions for the locality to promote development, promote tourism and attract domestic and foreign tourists...
