* In the women's team kata event, the trio Nguyen Thi Phuong, Luu Thi Thu Uyen and Nguyen Ngoc Tram excellently surpassed the Malaysian martial artists - who were highly rated in the performance kata event.

The Malaysian women's kata team performed first with three athletes Naccy, Niathalia and Lovelly. The Malaysian girls' charisma and synchronization were quite good in the 5-minute performance. However, the Malaysian women's kata team only scored 39 points.

Meanwhile, with careful preparation, Vietnamese female athletes competed steadily, had many creative and difficult moves and performed them more decisively.

The charisma and decisiveness of Luu Thi Thu Uyen, Nguyen Thi Phuong and Nguyen Ngoc Tram were also rated higher than their opponents. With 42.7 points, the Vietnamese women's kata team won the gold medal.

This is the first gold medal of the Vietnamese karate team, and also the third gold medal of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 19th ASIAD.

* Just minutes after bringing home the gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 2023 ASIAD, the karate team continued to score with a silver medal.

This feat belongs to boxer Nguyen Thi Ngoan, after she faced off against home country boxer Gong Li in the women's 61k kumite event.

Faced with the overwhelming strength and stormy attacks of Gong Li - the athlete who won a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Nguyen Thi Ngoan was almost unable to strike or defend.

She lost with a score difference of 0-9 after only 72 seconds of the final match, having to accept second place. Nguyen Thi Ngoan brought home the 4th silver medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 19th ASIAD.
