Pepper prices today, March 30, 2025, in the domestic market remained stable in key localities, trading from 159,000 - 160,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 159,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (159,000 VND/kg); Dak Lak (160,000 VND/kg); Dak Nong (160,000 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (159,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (159,000 VND/kg).

Thus, pepper prices today continue to move sideways in key growing areas compared to yesterday morning. The highest pepper price is at 160,000 VND/kg.

According to Netherlands-based Korf Food Products BV, although Vietnam is in the new harvest stage, pepper prices remain high. Most pepper farmers have had a solid financial foundation over the past year and improved storage capacity, giving them more flexibility in selling.

Pepper prices have been hovering around VND160,000/kg for weeks. Growers have no reason to sell below this level. This year’s crop is forecast to be around 180,000 tonnes and inventories remain lower than in previous years.

On the demand side, the market has not changed much. In 2024, the US imported nearly 100,000 tons of pepper from Vietnam, currently their reserves are still abundant and they are not in a hurry to buy more.

China is also relatively quiet, but unlike 2024, this year they will need to import to meet domestic demand. So the new pepper crop on Hainan Island, starting in June, will be interesting to watch. The island was hit by Typhoon Yagi in September 2024, and production could be affected.

High pepper prices and rising financial costs are causing most buyers to buy sparingly, buying "as needed".

Nedspice’s latest report suggests that production is expected to decline further by 2025, to 434,000 tonnes, with reduced acreage and adverse conditions in India being the main reasons.

On the other hand, supply is being offset by Brazil. Total acreage in Brazil has increased over the years, but unfavorable conditions have kept production low so far. The company believes that with demand remaining steady and significantly higher than supply, prices are more likely to rise than fall.

According to experts, the global pepper market is facing a shortage of supply due to adverse weather in major producing countries such as Brazil and Indonesia. Global pepper output in 2023 is forecast to reach only about 520,000 tons, while consumption demand is up to 530,000 tons, leading to a shortage of reserve supply.

There are still some important factors that can strongly affect the pepper market in the coming time. Typically, the change in demand from the Chinese market and the trend of farmers holding more goods.

At the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 7,239 USD/ton; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 7,000 USD/ton; the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 9,900 USD/ton.

Muntok white pepper price is 10,066 USD/ton; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is at 12,400 USD/ton.

Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 7,100 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 7,300 USD/ton; white pepper price at 10,100 USD/ton.

IPC commented that the pepper market in the last week of March continued to have mixed reactions. As the Indian Rupee strengthened against the USD, both domestic and international Indian pepper prices tended to increase this week.
