On the morning of May 16, in Hanoi, a high-ranking delegation of the Cuban Revolutionary Defense Committee led by Mr. Gerardo Hernandez Nordelo, Chairman of the Cuban Revolutionary Defense Committee, arrived in Hanoi, starting a working visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
The visit and working visit to Vietnam of the high-ranking delegation of the Cuban Committee for the Protection of the Revolution began from May 16 to 21. During the visit, the delegation visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace; signed a cooperation agreement between the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Cuban Committee for the Protection of the Revolution; and paid courtesy calls to the leaders of the Party and the National Assembly.

The delegation also participated in a series of activities such as visiting the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site (Kim Lien, Nam Dan, Nghe An); visiting and laying wreaths at the Fidel Castro monument at the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship General Hospital (Quang Binh); visiting and laying flowers at the Fidel Castro monument at Fidel Castro Park in Dong Ha City, Quang Tri; visiting a number of historical and cultural relics in Quang Tri province such as the 17th Parallel - where President Fidel Castro visited.

On the afternoon of May 16, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien cordially received a high-ranking delegation of the Cuban Revolutionary Defense Committee. “In the hearts of every Vietnamese person, the image of President Fidel Castro when he visited Vietnam and the words on the Quang Tri battlefield: For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its blood,” Comrade Do Van Chien emphasized, and at the same time believed that, from the good relationship with the Cuban Revolutionary Defense Committee, the two sides will contribute to fostering the special relationship, friendship between the two Parties, the two States and the people of Vietnam and Cuba to become increasingly strong and continue to develop.
Mr. Gerardo Hernandez Nordelo wishes to continue to accompany the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in upcoming cooperation activities to work towards the common goal of achieving a progressive, developed and prosperous society; contributing to further consolidating and tightening the special traditional friendship, fraternal solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and mutual trust between the two Parties, States and peoples of Cuba and Vietnam.

The two sides also signed a cooperation agreement stating that in the 2023-2028 period, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Cuban Revolutionary Defense Committee will continue to promote extensive propaganda among all classes of people, especially the young generation of the two countries, about the good traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba; strengthen information exchange, close coordination, and mutual support to ensure the maintenance of a peaceful, stable, secure, orderly and safe social environment in each country; support the interests of each country in terms of international law and each country's legal standpoint.
The two sides also focused on mobilizing sectors, levels, and people of all walks of life to actively and effectively implement agreements and cooperation programs in various fields between the two countries, especially in economics, trade, investment, culture, agriculture, medicine and health care, etc.
Coordinate to receive people's opinions and aspirations on the cooperative relationship between the two sides to contribute to the development of each country, in the context of regional and international integration.
