Sharing after the match on the afternoon of January 26, Djokovic could not hide his disappointment: "In a way, I was really shocked with my performance today. I couldn't do much in the first two sets. Maybe this was one of my worst Grand Slam matches."

Djokovic lost to Sinner in four sets with the score of 1-6, 2-6, 7-6, 3-6 and became the former Australian Open champion. Sinner held his serve so well that Nole did not have a single break-point in this match, something that has never happened to the Serbian player at a Grand Slam.
Regarding his form, Djokovic said: "I can't explain it. In fact, I didn't feel like I was in good form from the beginning of the tournament. Except for the match against Mannarino, in the other matches I couldn't find the form I usually play in Australia.
Reaching a Grand Slam semi-final is a great result for any player, but I always expect the highest from myself. Sinner served well, returned well. I was not happy with the way I moved, the way I hit my forehand, backhand. Sinner dominated the match completely, especially the service games."
Speaking after the match, Sinner said: "In the first two sets, Djokovic didn't hit as well as he usually does. He didn't move as well as he usually does. But Djokovic is number one in the world and you always have to be ready that he will change things, like in the third set.
Djokovic is probably the best returner in the world, so not having any break points is an unusual statistic for him. But in tennis, you always have bad days. I saw my chances and kept playing with intensity. I'm very happy with the result.

Sinner asserted that he learned a lot from his encounters with Djokovic: "The first game in the fourth set and the decisive serve are very important. Grand Slams challenge the spirit in a very different way.
I was lucky and honored to play a lot with Djokovic at the end of last year and learned my own lessons."
Jannik Sinner will face Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final at 3:30 p.m. on January 28, at Rod Laver Arena (Melbourne, Australia).
