The first set was exciting and even, even though both players had chances to take the lead in games 3 and 4 but neither could capitalize. The set had to go into a tie-break. Sinner led 5-2 but Hurkacz equalized to 5-5 and then a tug-of-war ensued.
Both players had chances to win set-points, but Sinner was the one who succeeded after two beautiful backhands to win 10-8, thereby winning 7-6 in set 1.
In the second set, Hurkacz played brilliantly, causing Sinner to have a hard time, and once again, the set had to be decided in a tie-break. Sinner led 5-2 this time, Hurkacz missed the next two points, and the second set ended with victory for the world number one.
Defeating Hubert Hurkacz in two sets with the same score of 7-6, Jannik Sinner won the Halle Open 2024. This is Sinner's first grass court title and the Italian star confidently enters Wimbledon in England next July.
