(Fatherland) - On the morning of December 21, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province and the People's Committee of Da Nang city held a ceremony to announce the completion of the Project to preserve, restore, and promote the value of the national relic Hai Van Quan.
Located at an altitude of 490m on the Hai Van mountain range, Hai Van Quan is an impressive military citadel architecture, considered one of the most majestic passes in Vietnam. The work is praised as "Thien ha de nhat hung quan" thanks to its majestic natural beauty and important strategic position in terms of military.
Hai Van Quan is located about 90km north of Hue city center and about 28km south of Da Nang city center. This relic has many cultural and historical values and is also a famous scenic spot, making an important contribution to the tourism development of Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang in particular and the Central region in general.

Recognizing the value of Hai Van Quan, Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city have jointly made a "historic handshake" to revive the relic, through the classification and implementation of the Hai Van Quan restoration and conservation project. On July 14, 2017, Hai Van Quan was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national historical and architectural relic. At the end of 2021, the Hai Van Quan National Monument Conservation, Restoration and Promotion Project was launched.
During this restoration, the project focused on comprehensively restoring architectural works, aiming to recreate the beauty and historical value of the relic. In addition, the units have implemented activities to serve and attract tourists such as: piloting a check-in platform and recording the presence of tourists at the relic; promoting the application of smart technology, digital transformation; deploying technology applications (3D); free Wifi coverage to support tourists to learn more about heritage values; timely updating of existing services and utilities during the journey to visit the Hai Van Quan national relic... After 3 years of implementation, the project has been officially completed with a total investment of more than 42 billion VND (each locality contributes 50% from the budget).

By implementing this project, the two localities have created a typical model of heritage restoration and conservation. The project is considered a priceless common asset, a symbol of solidarity and good cooperation between Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang. This is also an important foundation for the two sides to continue to coordinate in preserving and promoting the value of relics in the future.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, said that the Hai Van Quan national relic site, with its special location between the two localities, has become a destination attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to visit and admire. The management, preservation and promotion of the historical and cultural values, as well as the natural landscape of this relic site is a key task, contributing to promoting economic and social development.
