Within the framework of the 7th Congress of Advanced Youth Following Uncle Ho's Teachings, the Central Youth Union organized 6 forums to discuss important topics in the development orientation of the youth movement in the current period.

Among them, a new issue of special concern is youth with the mission of reviving culture in the digital age.

Although “Cultural revival” is a fairly new content of the Youth Union movement, the opinions participating in the forum show the understanding, concern, and sense of responsibility of young people on this issue. Most of the opinions show that young people have correctly identified the importance, impact, and influence of the digital age on preserving and promoting national cultural identity. Looking at it objectively and multi-dimensionally, delegate Nguyen Thi Bich Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, President of the Student Association of Nha Trang University (Khanh Hoa province) said that the digital age brings many opportunities and challenges for preserving and promoting national cultural identity.

Specifically, from a positive perspective, the digital age makes it easier and more effective to collect, preserve, popularize and spread national cultural values. Cultural heritages preserved and reproduced using 3D, VR, AR technologies... will help viewers have new and vivid experiences. In addition, festivals, art performances, cultural exhibitions... organized online via digital platforms such as Zoom, Facebook, YouTube... also help viewers easily access, interact conveniently and flexibly.

Concerned about the effects of digital technology, delegate Phan Ngoc Doan Trang, Secretary of the Youth Union of Thu Duc City (HCMC) said that in some cases, the use of technology can lead to the reduction and loss of a nation's language and cultural heritage. In addition, hostile forces can use digital technology to create cultural and artistic products with bad content with the intention of defaming the regime and sabotaging the revolution. The spread of mass culture through global media also poses a risk of making national cultural traditions less popular and losing their uniqueness.

To solve this problem, delegate Phan Ngoc Doan Trang said that the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union at all levels has proposed specific action plans, focusing on educating young people about traditions through specific and diverse activities. One of the effective solutions is to digitize documents, books, images, music and transmit them via the internet, thereby helping to preserve and transmit cultural heritage to future generations. This delegate said that union members and young people need to proactively and actively build and deploy applications of historical relic databases, cultural forms, and traditional occupations to honor the national identity of their locality, promote official information pages, thereby helping to orient national culture in cyberspace.

Also emphasizing the preservation and promotion of the good values of national culture, many opinions suggested that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Information and Communications should issue stricter sanctions for singers, actors, and KOLs (people who have a great influence on the community) to avoid cultural abuse and transmitting bad and toxic information to young people. Local authorities and organizations need to coordinate to establish folk song and dance clubs in villages, encourage youth union members to participate in performances and communication on social networking sites...
