Site clearance basically completed

The 15.7km-long Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway connection project has a total investment of nearly VND14,000 billion. Currently, site clearance work has been basically completed in the localities where the route passes through. Specifically, Long Dat district and Vung Tau city have handed over almost the entire site to the investor. Ba Ria city has reached about 85% and is actively clearing the remaining part, expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.

The project is divided into three main sections, each with its own design and progress. The section from National Highway 56 to Vung Van Intersection, 6.71 km long, started construction on April 19, 2025 with package No. 34 (construction from the beginning of the route to Km3+498). Package No. 35 from Km3+498 to the end of the route is in the process of selecting a contractor, expected to start construction in the second quarter of 2025. This is an elevated urban section, with a design speed of 100 km/h and a cross-section width of 24.5 m.

The section from Vung Van to the coastal road DT994 is 6.816km long and includes two bidding packages. Package 31 (road and overpass at the DT994 intersection) started construction at the end of 2024, Package 30 (Co May 3 and Cay Khe 4 bridges) is being re-bidded, expected to start construction in the second quarter of 2025. The final section from the coastal road DT994 to the roundabouts 51B, 51C is 2.87km long, designed to include a 6-lane main axis and parallel roads, is currently being bidded and expected to start construction in the second quarter of 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ngoc, Project Manager of Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company, said that the unit is in charge of constructing a section of the route about 2km long and an overpass at the intersection with the coastal road DT994. Currently, the preparation work has been completed and the unit is simultaneously implementing the construction of both the route and the bridge.

Important link in Southeast traffic connection

The Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway connection project is being accelerated, with the expectation that it will become an important link in the inter-regional transport network, reducing pressure on the already overloaded National Highway 51. When completed, the route will directly connect Vung Tau City and the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway, thereby opening the door to trade, tourism and investment for the entire Southeast region.

Mr. Hoang Trung Kien, Director of the Provincial Traffic and Civil Project Management Board, said that this project is not only significant in terms of traffic but also contributes significantly to the socio -economic development of the province. Immediately after the groundbreaking ceremony on April 19, contractors will mobilize maximum machinery and human resources, organizing construction in 3 continuous shifts to ensure progress.

The first phase will focus on the construction of the roadbed, box culverts, overpasses and sections with clean ground. At the same time, the investor will closely coordinate with the locality to completely resolve remaining problems with the ground. The goal is to complete the first section by the end of 2026, connecting smoothly with the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway when the main route is put into operation.
