The above practical contents have been conveyed by the Department of Science & Technology (KH & CN) in coordination with institutes, universities, and experts to many production and business establishments, cooperatives, and farms in the province recently. At the workshop introducing and disseminating advanced technologies and equipment for farming and farm management, expert Pham Van Quan, Director of Checkee Technology Joint Stock Company (HCMC) shared: “The application of product traceability is a piece in the digital transformation ecosystem of enterprises, an opportunity for sustainable trade innovation and integration of Vietnamese enterprises, including production establishments and enterprises in Binh Thuan. The traceability solution allows consumers as well as stakeholders to trace the history of information about the production, processing, and distribution processes until the product reaches the consumer. The solution is applied throughout the value chain, and can apply many different technologies such as QR code...”.

Also through related workshops, experts, managers, and high-tech application providers introduced digital transformation solutions for facilities, businesses, farms, cooperatives, and agricultural households in the province; provided instructions on installing and using management software applications such as Checkee software. Experts noted that small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperatives, and households should focus on recording data, transmitting information using farm diaries, ensuring the supply chain of businesses, and unifying product information. Facilities and gardeners create and authenticate unique management codes for each production unit: planting locations, processing plants, and organizations responsible for products, facilitating the export of goods.

Towards OCOP products

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Trung, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Binh Thuan said: “Application of traceability of agricultural products is a useful solution in developing products for domestic and foreign markets. Every year, the Department of Science and Technology proposes scientific and technological tasks to apply technology platforms in traceability, helping production establishments and enterprises protect the quality of their products in the market. The Department of Science and Technology coordinates with national digital transformation experts, the Department of Intellectual Property, associations, and industries in the province to promote and support enterprises in digital transformation to trace the origin of agricultural products in order to promote direct exports to international markets. At the same time, the industry deploys orientations and solutions to support localities and enterprises in developing brands, enhancing the value of intellectual property for Binh Thuan agricultural products. Solutions to improve management efficiency, promote the development of innovation activities, the program for developing intellectual property in Binh Thuan province until 2030; exploiting and managing local intellectual property”.

It is known that through the application and management of the traceability system to identify and trace the origin of products, especially typical products and OCOP products, in recent times, many production and business establishments, cooperatives and enterprises in the province have applied the traceability process of products and goods. The whole province has 89 OCOP products recognized; including 2 potential 5-star OCOP products, 8 4-star OCOP products, 79 3-star OCOP products. The province's OCOP products have been affirming their brand in the market, contributing to increasing people's income, especially in rural areas. Production establishments need to maintain and develop OCOP products as advantageous products of each locality, contributing to the development of local socio-economics.
