The project aims to provide urgent activities to support the tourism and hospitality industry to recover after the Covid-19 pandemic through vocational skills training, soft skills, digital skills, learning opportunities and contributing to improving expertise and capacity, opening up career opportunities for hundreds of students of Da Nang College of Tourism in the 2 years 2024-2025.
At the same time, building job-ready skills that meet digital competencies for graduates to better participate in the future labor market.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Quang, Principal of Da Nang College of Tourism, said that in the period of 2024-2025, more than 400 final year students of Da Nang College of Tourism will participate in the project's training courses focusing on bartending skills, restaurant and bar working skills and essential 21st century soft skills such as: digital literacy, leadership, collaboration, creativity, communication, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making and work readiness. This initiative will enhance students' capacity and skills, providing them with practical experience through internship and job opportunities at tourism and hospitality businesses.
"The project will be a solid foundation for students to not only study to meet current needs but also to prepare for their future steps. This project is not only limited to imparting knowledge but also focuses on developing life skills, soft skills, and the ability to adapt to the real working environment. We will focus on building a flexible, diverse educational program, suitable for the development trends of the tourism industry and the needs of the labor market. The school is committed to creating the best conditions for students to study and practice in a professional, creative and open environment. At the same time, it will also expand cooperation opportunities with domestic and foreign businesses and organizations so that students can access and learn from the most practical experiences", Mr. Nguyen Duy Quang shared.

Mr. Richard Bernhard, Chief Representative of Kenan Foundation Asia, said that under the direction and guidance of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and in coordination with Da Nang College of Tourism, the project was developed and implemented in an innovative educational format, focusing on developing soft skills, professional knowledge, and fostering creative thinking and the ability to adapt to a dynamic and open working environment.
"We believe that the project will create positive changes for the young generation in Vietnam's tourism industry, helping them confidently assert themselves and achieve success in the future," said Mr. Richard Bernhard.
“Bringing this project to Vietnam allows us to contribute to the development of the hospitality and tourism industry, while ensuring equal learning and development opportunities for students from large urban areas to smaller provinces and cities, at least 50% of whom are female. We equip the younger generation with the skills that are up-to-date and necessary to build a dynamic tourism industry,” said Huynh Thi Thanh Truc, External Relations Director of Diageo Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Loan, Deputy Director of the Department of Training (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) said that the project is an opportunity for students to access many types of training, soft skills and knowledge of the tourism industry in the digital age, contributing to improving professional knowledge, promoting creativity, connecting businesses, and expanding job opportunities for students after graduation.
"Hopefully, with the cooperative efforts of Kena Foundation Asia, Diageo Vietnam, Da Nang College of Tourism in particular and tourism training institutions in general, we will create long-term and effective cooperation, contributing to the development of high-quality tourism human resources in the future," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Loan, and requested Da Nang College of Tourism to proactively coordinate closely to effectively implement the cooperation contents approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; ensuring quality, efficiency and progress. Special attention will be paid to training courses on digital skills and soft skills for students.

Tran Thanh Chinh, class 12CKS1, majoring in Hotel Management, Faculty of Hotel and Restaurant Management (Da Nang College of Tourism) shared that he was very happy to be selected to participate in the project.
"We hope to learn advanced knowledge and skills in the bartending industry in particular and soft skills for working in bars, hotels, restaurants, as well as the tourism-hotel industry in general. That will be a great preparation for us on our future career path," Chinh shared.
The "Lifelong Learning" project is sponsored by Diageo Vietnam Company Limited, approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and assigned to Da Nang College of Tourism to coordinate with Kenan Foundation Asia to implement in the period 2023 - 2025.
The project focuses on improving skills and knowledge, supporting job search for 870 students studying at vocational schools in tourism and hospitality in 3 major cities of Vietnam: Hanoi, Khanh Hoa and Da Nang.
Project activities include enhancing digital competencies, 21st century skills, and work skills in restaurants and bars. At the same time, the project also facilitates students to connect with businesses in the field, thereby increasing career opportunities. In addition, the project also focuses on raising community awareness of the importance of human resource development in the tourism industry.
