Farmers' Association focuses on developing collective economy

Huynh Trung Quan raspberry products in Hiep Thanh commune have been guided by Duc Trong District Farmers' Association to complete the criteria for registering for 3-star OCOP ranking.

Implementing the Program "Vietnam Farmers' Association participates in developing collective economy in agriculture and rural areas in the period of 2020 - 2025", every year, Duc Trong District Farmers' Association develops and implements the Plan "Propaganda, mobilizing cadres and farmer members to promote the application of scientific and technical advances, developing agriculture towards high technology". Thereby, building professional farmer associations and groups to develop the scale of cooperative activities and cooperative groups according to the 5 criteria: Same field of labor, production, business and service industries; same concerns; same sharing; same responsibility and same benefits.

At the same time, select members to grow vegetables, coffee, passion fruit, mulberry and raise cows, pigs, and chickens in professional association activities. As a result, the whole Duc Trong district has about 5,799 farming households participating in the production and consumption chain of vegetables, flowers, coffee, passion fruit, and sweet potatoes, accounting for nearly 20% of the total number of farming households. Of which, the linkage is based on the model of cooperative groups (75 households), cooperatives (741 households), enterprises (1,575 households), and production and business establishments (3,408 households).

Also in the period of 2020 - 2025, the Duc Trong District Farmers' Association guided the establishment of 12 cooperatives, bringing the total number of 66 cooperatives and 23 cooperative groups with 1,046 members and 343 members, respectively, to sign contracts with enterprises to produce and consume agricultural products, enhancing brand reputation in the domestic and export markets. "The Duc Trong District Farmers' Association has signed a contract to produce 500 hectares of potatoes with Orion Company, with a yield of 28 - 35 tons/ha and a profit of 130 million VND/ha. In addition, it supports farmers in replicating ecological agriculture models, green agriculture, saving resources and reducing waste; organic, circular, smart, high-tech agriculture. These models innovate production thinking, effectively promote the advantages and potential of local land, becoming typical examples of good production and business at all levels," said Chairman of the Duc Trong District Farmers' Association Nguyen Ngoc Tuan.

Typically, Mr. Nguyen Van Doan - Director of Nam Son Cooperative, Lien Nghia town, links about 1,000 local farming households to produce over 3,600 hectares, providing an average of 200 tons of carrots and radishes to the market in the whole South every day, with a total annual revenue of hundreds of billions of VND, contributing over 6 billion VND to the New Rural Development Movement. Director of Nam Son Cooperative Nguyen Van Doan was voted 1 of 63 Vietnamese farmers to receive the title "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer of 30 years of innovation".

At Huynh Trung Quan Raspberry Company Limited, Hiep Thanh Commune, Duc Trong District Farmers' Association supported access to science and technology, creative startups, and 3-star OCOP ratings for 5 products: raspberry jam, raspberry tea, raspberry wine, black raspberry wine, and fresh raspberries. Similarly, Duc Trong District Farmers' Association guided the registration and rating of 3 3-star OCOP products of Thai Duong Honey Company Limited, Phu Hoi Commune (Canaan honey, Canaan royal jelly, Canaan pollen); 6 4-star OCOP products (frozen sweet potatoes, frozen spinach, frozen pumpkin, frozen sweet corn, frozen potatoes with frozen green beans) of Lam Dong Agricultural Products and Foodstuffs Joint Stock Company, Hiep An Commune; 3-star OCOP Hopeland tomatoes of Vietnam Hope Land Agricultural Production Company Limited, N'Thon Ha Commune, etc.

According to the Chairman of the Duc Trong District Farmers' Association, Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, to achieve the above results in collective economic development, the experience is to both encourage large-scale development and produce agricultural products in a modern direction. Next, focus on maximizing the potential and advantages of each locality to develop the collective economy; create a favorable environment to attract agricultural enterprises to effectively perform the role of "locomotive" in the market economy; maintain regular meetings, review, summarize, evaluate and analyze each issue in the past to draw experience and propose effective solutions for implementation in the coming time.
