The OCOP program focuses on developing typical products with advantages of each locality. The implementation of the program helps create high-quality, highly competitive goods and services, contributing to increasing income for rural people. At the same time, it promotes the shift of rural economic structure towards developing commodity production linked to the market.
On the other hand, the implementation of the OCOP Program helps develop rural tourism by linking the development of OCOP products with rural tourism, creating unique tourism products that attract tourists. Promote the development of community tourism services and ecological tourism. In particular, contribute to the implementation of new rural construction criteria, especially economic and production organization criteria. Enhance community capacity, promote the role of people as subjects in socio-economic development.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in recent times, the province's OCOP Program has received close attention and direction from all levels and sectors, along with the active participation of the entire political system from the province to the grassroots. In particular, the role of provincial departments, branches, sectors and organizations is clearly demonstrated in the work of evaluating and classifying OCOP products. In 2024, the OCOP product evaluation and classification council at all levels in the province organized 18 evaluation and classification sessions. Thereby, 66 products were recognized as "OCOP products" with 3 stars or higher, owned by 49 economic entities.

By February 2025, the whole province has 182 OCOP products evaluated and recognized from 3 stars or more, owned by 125 economic entities. Of which, 5 products have achieved 5 stars, 14 products have achieved 4 stars and 163 products have achieved 3 stars. The structure of industries participating in the OCOP Program in An Giang includes: Food products industry accounts for the highest proportion with 82.78%, beverage industry accounts for 13.25%, handicraft industry accounts for 3.31%, community tourism service industry and eco-tourism, tourism points account for 0.67%. Notably, at the Mekong Delta OCOP Product Forum, An Giang province had 2 products from 2 entities winning the award "Typical OCOP product at the Mekong Delta OCOP Product Connection Forum in 2024": Mam ca linh canh, belonging to An Giang Food and Vegetable Joint Stock Company and Palmyra palm sugar powder, belonging to Palmania Joint Stock Company. These results demonstrate the efforts and effectiveness of the implementation of the OCOP Program in An Giang, while affirming the diverse development potential of local products.
Local products, national quality
In order to strongly promote the OCOP Program and enhance the value of local products, An Giang province aims to have 50-60 more products evaluated and classified as "OCOP Products" with 3 stars or more by the end of 2025. In particular, An Giang focuses on developing products in the pharmaceutical, ornamental plant, community tourism, eco-tourism and tourism destination sectors, in order to fully exploit the potential and advantages of the locality. The province aims to have at least 5 products proposed for evaluation and classification as "OCOP Products" with 4 stars or more, affirming the outstanding quality and value of An Giang OCOP products.
To ensure the sustainable and effective development of the OCOP Program, the province focuses on reviewing, promoting and mobilizing economic entities with OCOP products that have expired recognition in 2025 to participate in the assessment and reclassification according to regulations. Prioritizing the development of OCOP products associated with brand building and development of rural tourism services, in order to create higher added value for the products. The province aims to support 100% of OCOP entities to participate in modern sales channels, such as: Supermarket systems, convenience stores and e-commerce platforms. In addition to traditional forms of trade promotion, the province continues to create bridges, links, promote and promote trade, support economic entities to access sales channels, e-commerce platforms, e-commerce sites, online sales channels and direct interactive sales (livestream), in order to expand the consumption market for OCOP products.
