On the morning of April 1, Ashley Tonthat Tram Anh said goodbye to the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club to return to the US to take her final graduation exam. She is a senior majoring in Biochemistry at Gonzaga University and is preparing to get her Bachelor's degree.
"The Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club would like to thank Ashley Tram Anh for her contributions in the past time and send her best wishes. Hopefully Ashley Tram Anh will achieve good results in the upcoming exam," the club's official page said.
Another overseas Vietnamese player of the HCM City Women's Club, Chelsea Lien Le, will continue to stay. The contracts of these two players with the team are both short-term, expected to end this year, depending on the cooperation wishes of both parties.
Ashley Tram Anh's return to the US while participating in the 2025 Women's National Cup is a pity not only for the player but also for the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club. In both matches in the group stage, Ashley was selected by coach Doan Thi Kim Chi to start and played the full official playing time in each match, helping the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club win the right to enter the semi-finals as the top team in Group A.
Ashley Tram Anh, although limited in physique (only 1.52 m tall), makes up for it with good technique, physical foundation and tactical vision. She plays enthusiastically in the role of central midfielder, often rushing forward to finish but has not been able to score any goals. The 2025 Women's National Cup will end on April 6 and this means Ashley has said goodbye to the tournament.
When she returns in May, Ashley Tram Anh will join Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club to prepare for the semi-finals of the 2024/25 AFC Champions League Women's. Ashley Tram Anh and Chelsea Lien Le both made their debuts for Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club in the quarter-finals on March 22, helping the team win 5-4 against Abu Dhabi Country (UAE) and make history for Vietnamese football.
Ashley Tram Anh was born in 2002 and is about to graduate from Gonzaga University. She is also playing for this university team in the US women's high school soccer system. She was athletically gifted as a child, excelling in both soccer and tennis, participating in federal tournaments and achieving certain achievements.
Along with Chelsea Lien Le, Ashley Tonthat Tram Anh is also a player with the level that coach Mai Duc Chung hopes can contribute to the Vietnam women's team.
