On August 19, 2004, the Digital Television Editorial Board was established with a team of nearly 50 people and on September 2 of the same year launched its first television program on air.
From January 1, 2014, the Station officially separated from VTC Corporation, becoming a public service agency under the Ministry of Information and Communications. By the end of 2014, VTC Station was transferred from the Ministry of Information and Communications to Voice of Vietnam - the country's main press agency under the Government.
Journalist Tran Duc Thanh, Director of VTC Digital Television, shared that 20 years is a very important milestone. In 20 years of innovation, creativity and dedication, VTC has gone through many ups and downs and each stage has left its mark on history.
According to Mr. Thanh, 20 years is a long journey, and also the youth of several generations of station staff. Thousands of staff have nurtured many aspirations and gone through many challenges for VTC to achieve success.
"Each person has their own value, for VTC Station we choose ourselves, in the most sincere way. A VTC Station that starts out daring to think, daring to do, creating breakthroughs. Next is a VTC that is more creative, innovative, courageous, and knows how to overcome challenges to establish a larger scale and position", the Director of VTC Station affirmed.
The Director of VTC Station recognizes that the future of television and digital media is fraught with many difficulties and challenges, but also opens up many new opportunities and advantages. He believes that the values built by the previous generation will be the foundation for VTC Station officers and employees to be more confident and determined to achieve further goals.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that when talking about Vietnam's television sector, it is impossible not to mention VTC Station.
"Promoting the application of new television technology and promoting competition is VTC's contribution. VTC members have every right to be proud of their contribution to the Vietnamese television sector. The Ministry of Information and Communications always acknowledges this contribution," said Minister Nguyen Manh Hung.
Looking back at the history of VTC, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung shared that 20 years ago, when all television at that time still considered analog technology a "safe zone", VTC had a desire to develop digital terrestrial technology.
VTC creates its mark and competitive advantage through promoting technological links and sharing content with local radio and television stations. The station is also the first unit to launch 3 specialized television channels following the model of ordering public career services from the state budget.
The Minister said that for organizations, 10 years is usually a period. VTC has gone through 2 periods, with ups and downs.
The first 10 years are for starting a business, establishing a career, "having nothing to lose, nothing in hand but big dreams. Little material but abundant spirit...", this is often the healthiest development stage. Thanks to that, VTC has entered the top of television stations.
10 years later, VTC Station separated from VTC Corporation. When separated, it had to operate as a public service unit with political tasks as its main task, not business.
Over the past 10 years, VTC has always had to carry the burden of the past. "If you can survive like you have, continue to develop, and continue to be a major television station in the country, it is already a miracle," the Minister of Information and Communications assessed.
The Minister believes that the next 10 years will be a new page in the development of VTC, "that new page is in the hands of VTC people. The future is always created by us, let's start with a big dream...".
The Minister hopes that the spirit that created VTC in its early days will be the basis for writing a new page in the next 10 years. The Ministry of Information and Communications believes in the future of VTC and will accompany the station in resolving difficulties, obstacles as well as orientations and policy mechanisms.
"In this digital transformation era, what is needed most is the word 'dare'. After that word 'dare' comes selfless labor. Because of that selflessness, we will have the energy and guidance of heaven and earth. And then success will come," the Minister expressed.
General Director of Voice of Vietnam Do Tien Sy said that 20 years ago, VTC was born as a strong push for Vietnamese television, creating new momentum, promoting the television sector; changing thinking and working methods from traditional to modern.
The 20-year journey has been a period of many challenges, changes and fluctuations, but VTC has gradually stood firmly on its own two feet, with a system of television channels rich in content and a transmission system covering the whole country.
VTC Radio has become an important information channel of the Party and State, a means of propagating political tasks, while vividly reflecting all aspects of social life, conveying the words and wishes of the people...
VTC's team of journalists work hard to create hundreds, thousands of works and programs that leave a good impression on the audience.
"VTC's waves have spread and reached far and wide to distant horizons, highlands, borders, islands, all over the beloved Vietnam and to our compatriots abroad," Mr. Do Tien Sy assessed.
After pointing out the difficulties and challenges, the General Director of Voice of Vietnam requested that VTC needs to have positive, appropriate and quick-adapting innovations, and needs to promote the strength of solidarity and constant creativity so as not to be left behind.
