G4 Ambassadors in Vietnam including Canada, New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland sang in Vietnamese with the Green Wind Choir the song "What did you do last year" by musician Bui Cong Nam.
Canadian Ambassador Shawn Steil, New Zealand Ambassador Caroline Beresford, Norwegian Ambassador Hilde Solbakken, Swiss Ambassador Thomas Gass filmed at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long and all sang Vietnamese quite fluently. The video opens with a scene of Hoan Kiem Lake and the atmosphere of the capital welcoming Tet with the typical peach blossoms, kumquat trees, and streets shining in red. The Ambassadors take turns singing with the support of the Green Wind Choir. For many years now, on
the occasion of Lunar New Year , the G4 Ambassadors have sent a humane New Year message to the Vietnamese people. The Ambassadors hope that the melody and emotions in this musical gift will inspire the search for harmony in diversity. In previous years, the G4 Ambassadors have visited and wished Tet to small and quiet female workers, street vendors, and other freelance workers. They also visited Lucky House - a private facility for the disabled in Ho Chi Minh City and Hope Box, a shelter for victims of gender-based violence, headquartered in Hanoi. The song "What did you do last year" by musician Bui Cong Nam performed by singer Noo Phuoc Thinh is loved by many young people at the end of each year, preparing to welcome the new year. The lyrics are easy to remember and memorize.
