(CLO) Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's spokesman said the Israeli cabinet will vote on a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon on Tuesday, after a source close to Netanyahu said he had approved the plan "in principle".
Netanyahu hinted at the possibility of a new ceasefire with Hezbollah during security consultations with Israeli officials on Sunday night, the source said. On Monday, his spokesman told CNN that the Israeli cabinet would vote on the proposed deal on Tuesday and said it was expected to pass.
Meanwhile, four senior Lebanese sources told Reuters on Monday that US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to announce a ceasefire between the Hezbollah militant group and Israel soon.
Earlier, the Israeli Ambassador to the US also said that a ceasefire agreement to end the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah could be reached "in the next few days".

Speaking to Israel Army Radio on November 25, Israel's ambassador to Washington, Mike Herzog, said the ceasefire agreement still had "finishing points". But he said "we are getting closer to an agreement" and "it could happen in a matter of days".
The remaining issues are Israel's demands that it reserve the right to act if Hezbollah violates its obligations under a deal to push Hezbollah and the Israeli army out of southern Lebanon.
Despite a ceasefire that was said to be imminent, fighting continued to rage. The Israeli military launched airstrikes across Lebanon on Monday, setting off multiple explosions across the country and killing at least a dozen people.
Israeli strikes targeted commercial and residential buildings in Beirut on Monday as well as in the port city of Tyre, where 12 people were killed - bringing the total number of people killed in Lebanon by Israeli strikes in the two-month war to more than 3,700.
Earlier on November 24, Hezbollah also fired hundreds of rockets at Israeli cities and towns, including "for the first time" carrying out attacks on the Ashdod naval base in southern Israel, using advanced missiles and drones targeting "a military target" in Tel Aviv.
