According to her, this was achieved thanks to the direction and administration of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, who closely followed reality, were resolute, flexible, had clear solutions, and clearly defined the responsibilities of each agency, organization, and individual.

Sharing the same view, delegate Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh (Vinh Long) affirmed that never before has the infrastructure of the Mekong Delta region been invested so strongly as it is now. Once a "lowland" of highways, up to now, this region has 120km of highways put into operation. The goal is that by 2025, the whole region will have about 548km, and by 2030, it will be 763km.

“These are important decisions of the National Assembly, the attention and drastic direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, opening up investment opportunities, creating breakthroughs, promoting the Mekong Delta to develop and rise up with the whole country,” said Ms. Thanh.

Wherever the road opens, the economy develops.

Talking to Giao thong Newspaper on the sidelines of the National Assembly, many delegates affirmed that in the past 9 months, the development of transport infrastructure has been one of the bright spots with many key projects across the country being inaugurated and put into use; many projects have been started and their progress has been shortened.

"The breakthrough in transportation has contributed to socio-economic growth," said delegate Nguyen Truc Son (Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Ben Tre province).

Delegate Nguyen Tao (Lam Dong) also commented: “Traffic is like blood vessels. When the blood vessels are smooth and there are no bottlenecks, the economy and society will develop smoothly.

We live in mountainous and remote areas, so we understand very well that when transportation develops sustainably, the economy develops and grows very quickly. GDP growth and budget revenue of Lam Dong increase every year, one of the major contributions is in transportation infrastructure.

According to delegate Tran Hoang Ngan (HCMC), in public investment, transportation is a key sector, allocated a huge amount of capital and currently has the highest disbursement rate. Thanks to that, a series of large projects have been completed.

“Clear roads, clear finance. Thanks to improved transportation, foreign investors have chosen Vietnam as a destination for many years. While investment capital in foreign countries has decreased, in Vietnam it has increased,” Mr. Ngan shared, adding that the system of ports, aviation, and sea routes has been formed, etc., which has contributed to the country’s economic growth in recent times.

To achieve this, according to Mr. Ngan, in addition to the Party's correct policy and the Government's determination, we must also mention the political determination of the entire transport sector, the efforts to overcome difficulties and hardships of workers day and night on the construction site, regardless of sun or rain, regardless of holidays and Tet.

Continue to develop regional connectivity infrastructure

Recognizing the importance of transport infrastructure development to socio-economic development, delegates all proposed that in the coming time, it is necessary to continue to focus and allocate resources to quickly implement transport infrastructure projects to enhance regional connectivity, creating a premise for growth.

In particular, the Tan Phu - Bao Loc project was initiated for investment in 2020 but has not been able to be implemented yet due to financial problems.

Recently, during a visit to Lam Dong, the Prime Minister assigned Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha to chair a meeting to discuss and resolve problems related to two expressway projects, pledging to soon implement these two projects with a total length of 140km.

“Local voters are very happy and hopeful because this route will help gradually realize the dream of a highway to the Central Highlands, positioning local values on the investment attraction map,” Mr. Tao shared.

According to delegate Vi Duc Tho (Son La), in the 12 main groups of tasks and solutions for 2025, the Government has identified and focused on completing the strategic, synchronous, and modern infrastructure system, especially key and important national transport infrastructure projects, the highway system, and inter-regional projects.

Agreeing and highly agreeing on the tasks and solutions, the delegates also recommended early investment in the expressway to create the Hanoi - Hoa Binh - Son La - Dien Bien economic corridor: "Ministries and branches should soon prepare to invest in the expressway project from Moc Chau district - Son La city, ensuring completion before 2030. By 2030, priority will be given to focusing resources on preparing to invest in the expressway from Son La city to Dien Bien province".

According to the delegates, the above expressway is very important, promoting regional connectivity development; continuing to help the Northwestern provinces in general and Son La province in particular to promote their potential, unlock resources, and develop sustainably.
