It is a groundbreaking event that brings together pop culture, music, art, food, sports, creativity and education with the world's most influential brands and artists.
In 2024 ComplexCon Hong Kong officially appointed Cult Verdy as Artistic Director for ComplexCon Hong Kong which opens in March this year.
Cult Verdy is the founder of the beloved fashion brand Girls Don't Cry, and the Artistic Director for Black Pink's Born Pink concert. With her multicultural achievements, Cult Verdy is expected to take ComplexCon Hong Kong to the next level by bridging Eastern and Western pop culture.
ComplexCon Hong Kong is scheduled to take place from March 22 to 24, 2024 at Asia World Expo, right before the Hong Kong Arts Month event, attracting more than 30,000 visitors from all over the world to visit and experience.
ComplexCon Hong Kong 2024 is also honored to have the Hong Kong Tourism Board as the event supporter, joining hands to promote the first ComplexCon event in Asia, an unprecedented meeting place for the most influential artists and creators in Asia and around the world.
Art Basel Hong Kong
A corner of Art Basel exhibition
Taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from March 28 to 30, this is one of the largest art exhibitions in Asia, showcasing outstanding works by many artists, designers and art galleries around the world. The exhibition brings together 243 galleries from 40 countries and territories.
In 2024, Art Basel Hong Kong welcomes 25 galleries exhibiting for the first time, including Fitzpatrick Gallery (France), Almeida e Dale Galeria de Arte (Brazil), Waitingroom (Japan), PTT Space and Each Modern (Taiwan); Public Gallery and Alison Jacques (UK), Mangrove Gallery (China), and YveYang, Bortolami, Chapter NY (USA).
Art Basel Hong Kong 2024 will focus on modern and contemporary art from galleries in Asia-Pacific by emerging artists as well as internationally renowned artists.
Art Central Hong Kong Art Exhibition
Art Central Hong Kong 2024 will take place from March 28 to 31 at Central Harbourfront, bringing together 95 galleries from around the world, and is expected to welcome 40,000 visitors.
With over a third of galleries participating for the first time, and the highest number of solo artists participating ever, Art Central Hong Kong proudly asserts itself as the leading incubator for artists and galleries in Asia’s largest contemporary art market.
This year, Art Central Hong Kong 'inaugurated' a brand new space called 'NEO', which is a place to introduce artists and galleries participating in the event for the first time. 11 galleries and 15 artists were selected by Enoch Cheng - Art Central 2024 Curatorial Advisor, to participate in this launch.
WestK FunFest
If you have the opportunity to visit Hong Kong in March or April, join in the vibrant atmosphere of the WestK FunFest festival. WestK FunFest is a performing arts festival taking place in indoor and outdoor spaces around Art Space, Free Space and Xiqu Centre. The festival lasts for three weeks (from March 16 to April 7) with the participation of local and international artists, promising to bring exciting experiences to audiences of all ages.
The highlight of the festival is Ephemeral - a large-scale art installation designed by Sydney (Australia) studio Atelier Sisu, the work is displayed on the Waterfront Promenade, viewers will step into a dreamlike scene of giant rainbow-colored bubbles combined with vibrant sounds that promise to evoke a deep sense of the fleeting nature of life and the fragility of the world around us.
The Beauty of Ephemeral
With this Hong Kong debut, a new element - Colossal is specially designed to enhance the WestK FunFest experience. In addition, WestK Funfest also has other special activities such as the play 'Little Thai Forever' inspired by the life of the Thai community in Kowloon, the fun performance inspired by the trolley 'Pram People', or immerse yourself in the 'party' atmosphere of '10-Minute Dance Parties'...
Exhibition 'Cinderella and Her Qipao'
'Cinderella and Her Qipao' Exhibition at Hong Kong Film Archive
Qipao (also known as cheongsam) is an iconic Chinese fashion item, often designed specifically for actresses to highlight the personality of the character they are portraying. Regardless of style, actresses wearing qipao always exude timeless beauty on the silver screen.
Running until May 5, the exhibition displays 31 qipao selected from films from different periods, recreating the cultural landscape of the past with costumes worn by legendary Hong Kong actors such as Lee Lee-wah, Xia Meng, Maggie Cheung and Brigitte Lin, helping visitors better understand qipao in films through this exhibition.
Timeless Diva Exhibition: Anita Mui
Creating countless legends and being a testament to the golden age of Hong Kong cinema in the 1980s and 1990s, Anita Mui has always been a shining symbol of Hong Kong popular culture on the international stage. This exhibition commemorates the 20th anniversary of the superstar's death.
Through her records, stage costumes, films and pop culture products, the exhibition, which runs until September 2, will be an opportunity for us to reminisce about the superstar's extraordinary achievements in the music and film industries, and look back at her brilliant contributions to Hong Kong popular culture, taking Cantopop to new heights and setting a new benchmark for concert culture.
