Highlights of the Street Festival 'Lotus Blossoming Homeland' in Nghe An

The street festival with the theme "Lotus blooming homeland" is a program in a series of events to celebrate the Lotus Village Festival 2023 on the occasion of the 155th anniversary of the birth of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan, mother of President Ho Chi Minh and the 133rd anniversary of the birth of the great President Ho Chi Minh.

Nghe An is a land of outstanding people. Over the years, the people of Nghe An have not only made many important contributions to the historical process of the nation but have also created a unique cultural region.

With 6 ethnic groups living together, Nghe An today not only has the presence of a vibrant contemporary culture, converging many quintessence but also has an extremely rich and unique treasure of cultural heritage, including Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs, one of 15 intangible cultural heritages of Vietnam honored to be recognized by UNESCO.

The street festival aims to introduce, promote and honor the cultural heritage of Nghe An province's ethnic groups to domestic and foreign friends and tourists. The festival has the participation of more than 900 artists, actors and artisans from 21 art troupes of districts, cities and towns of Nghe An province, Nghe An Traditional Arts Center, Thanh Hoa Provincial Art Troupe and dance groups of Vinh city.

The festival consists of three main parts: “Sparkling Soul of Nghe An”, “Convergence of Lotus Fragrance” and “Colors of Nghe An”. Throughout the ceremony, the groups performed traditional art forms and typical and unique cultural heritages of many regions and ethnic groups.

Special performances at the ceremony such as Tuong performance, Mong flute dance, palanquin procession, Vi and Giam folk songs, performance of the Thai ethnic group's Xang Khan ceremony, the O Du people's first thunder ceremony of the year, and Xuan Pha play performance of Thanh Hoa province... left a deep impression on the audience.

The festival has helped people and tourists better understand the unique cultural features of Nghe An, and at the same time, appreciate more the values ​​and cultural quintessence of ethnic groups from 21 districts, cities and towns across the province. These beauties are being focused on by localities to preserve, pass on and gradually create attractive products to serve tourism development.

The Xuan Pha performance comes from the Thanh Hoa Province Mass Art Troupe. The Xuan Pha performance was formed and developed over 1,000 years ago to become a unique and special folk dance ensemble performed annually at Nghe Xuan Pha, Xuan Truong Commune, Tho Xuan District, Thanh Hoa Province and is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.
