Da Nang launches Summer Volunteer Campaign, focusing on Hoa Vang district

This year, the Summer Volunteer Campaign will be held from April 2024 to the end of August 2024 with a key location in Da Nang city. In particular, Hoa Vang district was selected as a key support location to complete the criteria for building new rural areas, contributing young people to the process of striving to turn Hoa Vang district into a town in the shortest time.

In addition to 1 program and 4 campaigns, including: the Exam Support Program, the Green Summer Campaign, the Red Flamboyant Campaign, the Pink Vacation Campaign, and the Green March Campaign, Da Nang also implements the International Volunteer Program, a team of volunteer students who are foreign students studying in the area, a team of Young Doctors following Uncle Ho's teachings, a team of Youth Volunteers for the Environment, and a team of Youth Volunteers transferring science and technology.

With a variety of activities throughout nearly 4 months, this year's Summer Volunteer campaign is expected to attract more than 20,000 union members and young people to participate.

In particular, the Da Nang City Youth Union set many important targets such as: building at least 20 new civilized streets (roads, alleys); building and repairing at least 12 new charity houses or red scarf houses; planting at least 20,000 new trees; supporting the implementation and realization of 500 ideas and initiatives of union members and young people; improving digital capacity for 15,000 people, training on startup knowledge for at least 5,000 young people; supporting 5 creative startup projects of young people...

At the launching ceremony, the Da Nang City Youth Union presented city-level youth projects to affiliated units and grassroots Youth Union organizations, notably supporting Hoa Vang district in building new rural areas in the period of 2023 - 2025 (including 40 sets of tables and chairs, 40 computers, 60 scholarships, 200 sets of textbooks for primary and secondary schools) with a total value of 850 million VND.

In addition, there are projects to beautify the landscape, clear the drainage in Truoc Dong village (Hoa Nhon commune, Hoa Vang district), beautify the landscape at the entrance to the Hoa Vang district Party Committee base, give 2 houses to poor families in Hoa Vang (total value of 100 million VND), the project of the Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful riverside road and 600m2 mural painting (value of 500 million VND), and give 2 sports facilities to the Eastern and Western student dormitories (value of 3 billion VND).

On this occasion, the City Youth Union awarded 10 "Solid Future" scholarships, each worth 5 million VND, to students with difficult circumstances who excel in their studies and awarded 7 scholarships to Co Tu ethnic students in Hoa Vang district to participate in the 2024 National High School Graduation Exam.

According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Dung - Secretary of the Da Nang City Youth Union, the series of summer volunteer activities in 2024 is an environment for Da Nang City youth union members to improve their knowledge, approach practical situations, practice social work capacity and political courage, best meeting the needs of social security activities, the need to contribute youth and grow up.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoai - Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union of Thua Thien Hue, said that the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign of the whole province's youth will take place from May 26 to August 31, focusing on the program "Supporting the exam season" and 4 campaigns: Green Summer, Red Flamboyant, Green March and Pink Vacation.

The campaign is expected to attract more than 150,000 union members and young people from all over the province to participate, with many practical contents and activities such as supporting localities to complete the criteria for building a cultural life and a model new rural area; enhancing traditional cultural identity to become a "Living Village"; the "Military Semester" program for team members and children; celebrating the 25th anniversary of the youth volunteer movement and praising outstanding collectives and individuals in the youth volunteer movement...

"These activities are expected to meet the needs and aspirations of many young people in the province, becoming unforgettable memories during their youth," Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoai hopes.

At the launching ceremony, the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Youth Union implemented the 24th stage of the program "Bicycle Journey - Helping Children Go to School", presenting 15 bicycles worth 21 million VND to 15 students of Kim Dong Primary and Secondary School, Nam Dong District; supporting and sponsoring orphans until the age of 18 for 4 students in difficult circumstances; presenting 25 gifts to students and people of ethnic minorities in Nam Dong District.
