GreenUP Marathon: Long An Half Marathon 2024 is organized by Coteccons Construction Joint Stock Company (HoSE: CTD) with Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Long An province and Dong Tam Joint Stock Company as the coordinating unit. The race will be held on August 24 at Long An International Port, Tan Lap commune, Can Giuoc district, Long An province.

Besides the message of maintaining the habit of exercising, the race helps spread a green lifestyle to the community through images of footsteps towards a beautiful and sustainable future.

This is a non-profit race, the runners’ footsteps will contribute more trees to the tree planting activities, increasing the green space of the organizing committee. Specifically, after completing 5km, Coteccons will contribute 1 more tree on behalf of each runner.

Unprecedented experiences in Long An await Runners

After the race, the Organizing Committee will contribute to the fund for primary forest planting in Quang Binh and Quang Tri, with an estimated 11,000 trees in each province. GreenUP Marathon 2024 promises to accompany Long An province in child care activities through practical and meaningful activities.

The race emphasizes the maximum use of recycled materials, from construction materials at the construction site such as scaffolding, cover nets, to green race-kits... to minimize the use of disposable materials, aiming to protect the environment.

At the press conference to launch the race on June 18, Mr. Bolat Duisenov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Coteccons emphasized: "Coteccons determines to build its own future through the sustainable future of its projects, contributing to the better future of the community and society.

Coteccons' motto is to build works that are valuable for hundreds of years, sustainable over time and useful for life". Not stopping in the construction industry, GreenUP Marathon has gone through 3 seasons to inspire the community and become an important platform for partners to spread the green vision.

The GreenUP Marathon 2024 running route is designed to "embrace" the typical beauty of the Southwest region - runners will have the opportunity to run through shrimp farms, water coconut forests, and cross rich rivers and canals.

In particular, this year's race routes will be the first time runners have the opportunity to explore Long An International Port, the import-export hub of the Mekong Delta region.

Athletes will experience the running route on the Long An International Port wharf, under the giant crane "arms", watch the sunset on the Soai Rap River and look out to the majestic East Sea.

The race venue in Can Giuoc district, Long An province is a heroic land in the resistance wars. Here, there is also the tallest steel pipe flagpole in Vietnam in particular and the tallest in Indochina in general, recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization (VietKings).

The steel pipe flagpole is designed with a height of 63 meters, representing 63 provinces/cities nationwide, with a 54 square meter red flag with a yellow star representing 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam flying at the top.

During the opening ceremony of the race, athletes will experience the sacred moment of this special flag-raising ceremony.

At the expo area of ​​the race, welcoming the athletes are cultural booths, culinary specialties of Long An and the Western provinces, along with folk game booths, bringing many unique experiences.

At the finish line, welcoming all the athletes will be drum dances from the famous Binh An drum village. Binh An traditional craft village in Binh Lang commune, Tan Tru district, Long An province is considered the oldest and most famous drum making village in the South. According to the elders, Binh An drum village was initiated by Mr. Nguyen Van Ty more than 150 years ago.

The Green Vietnam project was initiated by Tuoi Tre newspaper with the aim of raising awareness and promoting action for the community, agencies and businesses in protecting the environment, developing a circular economy and reducing emissions. The GreenUp Marathon is also one of the activities within the framework of the Green Vietnam project.

GreenUP Marathon: Long An Half Marathon 2024 conveys the message "The finish line is the beginning", meaning: this finish line is the beginning of the next finish lines.

In addition to the prizes for the best individuals in each distance, the best athlete in the 21km distance (first male & first female) will receive a special prize: a plane ticket and a ticket to participate in the Laguna Phuket Marathon 2025, in Thailand.
