VTV performs the task of providing national foreign television services.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 747/QD-TTg dated April 11, 2025 assigning Vietnam Television to perform the task of providing national foreign television services to promote the image of Vietnam.

Providing national foreign television services on multiple platforms

The goal is to inform and propagate foreign affairs about the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, promote the image of the country and Vietnamese people to the world , and contribute to the effective implementation of foreign affairs information tasks.

Vietnam Television provides national foreign television services for the 2025-2030 period in English and several popular languages ​​on multiple platforms including:

National foreign television channel broadcasts 24 hours/day, total new program production time maximum 5 hours/day; editing, translation, reading and subtitling 2 hours/day;

Production of products and information content posted on the Internet;

Broadcasting, communicating, and transmitting national foreign television services to the system of foreign television service providers, on the following infrastructures: terrestrial television, satellite, Internet, ensuring service coverage to key locations in countries and territories in Asia, Europe, Oceania, and North America.

Applying digital technology to meet the requirements of foreign information tasks in the new situation

The decision clearly states that Vietnam Television must ensure the following conditions:

Arrange a team of staff with professional qualifications in management, journalism, foreign language proficiency, and experience in foreign information work, to meet the goal of building a national foreign television service.

Arrange facilities, ensure technical production of television programs and digital content products on foreign information.

Invest in research, application of digital technology and digital transformation in the field of television, meeting the requirements of foreign information tasks in the new situation. Establish a network of international partners, transmit national foreign television services to key locations abroad. The provision of national foreign television services is carried out in accordance with the provisions of law on assignment of tasks by the Government, the Prime Minister, ordering or bidding for the provision of public products and services using the state budget from regular expenditure sources and related legal provisions.

Regarding funding sources, from the state budget to carry out the following tasks: Producing television programs and products, foreign information content to be posted on the Internet with the total time of new production and editing, translation, reading and subtitling as prescribed above; broadcasting, communicating, transmitting national foreign television services to the system of television service providers abroad, posting foreign information products and content on digital platforms, social networks and specialized electronic information pages; training, fostering expertise, professionalism, evaluating and measuring audience information and surveying and researching international television experience.

Vietnam Television is responsible for arranging funding to carry out tasks other than the above./.
