Similarly, Phondala Tavan, a Lao student at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, said that the film is very meaningful as it recreates for viewers the sacrifices of previous generations - those who contributed to gaining independence to have Vietnam today.

Mr. Ho Xuan Lam, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO), said that this film screening activity has created an environment for Lao and Cambodian students, as well as diplomatic agencies, to have the opportunity to learn about the history of the struggle for national liberation and protection of the Fatherland by the Vietnamese army and people during the resistance war against American imperialism.

Through this, the beautiful images of the Vietnamese people will be introduced to international friends; at the same time, affirming to them the value of peace today. “Organizing the screening of the film “Tunnels: Sun in the Dark” also helps strengthen the connection and affection between countries and Vietnam,” said Mr. Ho Xuan Lam.

During the screening, all students, guests, and delegates were given an explanation of the film title “ Tunnel: Sun in the Dark” before watching.

This is a film project by director Bui Thac Chuyen, released on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. The film is set in the Cu Chi tunnels in 1967 during the resistance war against American imperialism.

The film focuses on a 21-man guerrilla team at Binh An Dong base, led by Bay Theo (played by Thai Hoa), whose mission is to protect a strategic intelligence group hiding underground and facing constant raids by the US military.

Present at the screening, director Bui Thac Chuyen thanked Lao and Cambodian students and foreign delegates for their affection for his film project.

The screening also helps students learn about a heroic and tragic period in Vietnam’s history during the years of fighting for independence during the resistance war against American imperialism. He hopes that the film will be introduced to a wider audience./.
