Action for sustainable consumption

On the morning of March 1, the launching ceremony of Green Vietnam 2025 took place at September 23 Park (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), attracting a large number of attendees. The atmosphere was bustling right from the opening hour with many interactive activities such as fingerprinting to show commitment to environmental protection, participating in green consumption games and receiving gifts.

Mr. Ngo Minh Hai, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, expressed his hope that the Green Vietnam program will contribute to honoring businesses and start-ups pursuing sustainable business models, while spreading green living awareness in the community, especially among young people.

"The program also aims to closely coordinate with city leaders and authorities, to create a strong driving force to promote environmental protection actions, towards a green and sustainable Vietnam," Mr. Hai emphasized.

In 2025, Green Vietnam will enter an acceleration phase, shifting its focus from awareness to practical action. With the theme "Promoting green consumption", the program aims at sustainable production and encourages the use of environmentally friendly products, contributing to building a green economy.

According to the organizers, Green Vietnam 2025 will have a series of large-scale activities throughout the year, including the Green Living Challenge, green markets, an environmental run, and a Green Vietnam music night. In particular, a series of talk shows, seminars, and green business tours will provide a practical perspective on sustainable production models.

One of the highlights of this year’s program is the “Vietnam Green Awards” – an award honoring green products voted by consumers. The award is not only a recognition but also a motivation for businesses to promote innovation and improve production processes in a more environmentally friendly direction.

There will be more specific actions.

From a business perspective, Mr. Nguyen Gia Huy Chuong - General Director of PRO Vietnam Packaging Recycling Joint Stock Company - said that after one year of participating in the program, many businesses have achieved significant progress in implementing environmental protection initiatives.

However, he also acknowledged that to realize solutions more effectively, season 2 of Green Vietnam will require more specific commitments and actions from stakeholders.

"We will develop more detailed plans, not only focusing on environmental protection but also promoting the participation of businesses, organizations and the young generation," Mr. Chuong affirmed.

Sharing the same spirit, Miss Intercontinental 2022 Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc said that with the theme "Promoting green consumption" of this year's program, she initiated the initiative "Change Zero - Youth for sustainable development" to call on young people to join hands to protect the environment.

Bao Ngoc believes that to truly change, each young person needs to experience and understand environmental issues from practice, not just through theoretical lessons. She hopes to awaken the empathy and responsibility of the young generation towards this planet.

"We do not protect the environment out of obligation, but for our own future. Our lives originate from green. If we continue to destroy the green of the Earth, it means we are losing our own lives and those of future generations," Bao Ngoc sent the program's message.

Impressive numbers from Green Vietnam 2024

First announced on April 20, 2024, the Green Vietnam project has had positive impacts on the community. The message of "reduce, recycle, reuse" has become a guiding principle that permeates the lives of many individuals and organizations and has achieved many impressive numbers:
