Speaking at a press conference in Beijing before President Xi Jinping welcomed heads of state from Egypt, Bahrain, Tunisia and the UAE, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li said that President Xi Jinping will attend and deliver an important policy speech at the opening session of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum, and hold bilateral talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, Tunisian President Kais Saied, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
According to Vice Minister Deng Li, the China-Arab Countries Cooperation Forum is an important platform for dialogue and cooperation between China and Arab countries.
At this Forum as well as in bilateral talks, President Xi Jinping and Arab leaders focused on in-depth discussions on hot regional and international issues, especially finding solutions to the conflict in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian issue.
In addition, the leaders also discussed and sought measures to increase cooperation between the world's second largest economy and Arab countries and promote faster implementation of the building of the China-Arab Community with a Shared Future as well as China's global initiatives initiated by President Xi Jinping in recent years.
Many Chinese and regional observers believe that since its inception in September 2004, the China-Arab Cooperation Forum has achieved many remarkable achievements and continues to bring important results for increasingly close cooperation between the two sides.
China's relations with many Arab countries have evolved from partnerships to strategic cooperation and upgraded to strategic partnerships with leaps and bounds. China has sought to build closer ties with Arab countries and is playing the role of a powerful mediator on regional issues.
President Xi Jinping himself attended the opening ceremony of the Forum's ministerial meetings twice and made important policy statements on Beijing's relations with the Arab world. At the first China-Arab Summit held in 2022 in Saudi Arabia, China and Arab countries agreed to build a China-Arab community of shared future in the new era.
In that context, speaking to the press before President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi left for Beijing, the Egyptian presidential spokesman also said that the two countries' leaders will have in-depth discussions on many regional and international issues, especially the conflict in the Gaza Strip and solutions to restore stability in the region. The Egyptian President's trip to Beijing coincides with the two countries' 10th anniversary of upgrading their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
In the context of the region and the world facing many difficult problems to solve, the visit of four Arab leaders to Beijing to meet with the Chinese leader may promise new changes for the region, including the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. Welcoming the four leaders continues to demonstrate Beijing's efforts to find a common voice and increase consensus with the Arab world.
