“Cu Li Never Cries” wins Best Asian Film

On the evening of July 6, the 2nd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF II) 2024 closed and presented a series of awards to outstanding film works.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of DANAFF II, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City said that DANAFF II with the theme "Asian Bridge" has brought Da Nang a vibrant and colorful film week. This is the second time Da Nang City has successfully organized an international film event.

During the week of DANAFF II, there are many activities such as: film screenings for the public at cinema complexes, outdoor film screenings, film crew introductions, artist exchange programs and international seminars and talks...

Notably, for the first time in Vietnam, DANAFF II presented the Cinema Achievement Award to an outstanding filmmaker: Director - People's Artist Dang Nhat Minh. "All of them have left a good impression on the public, students, managers, and experts in the field of cinema," said Mr. Tran Chi Cuong.

Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan - President of the Vietnam Film Promotion and Development Association (VFDA), Co-Head of the Organizing Committee and Director of DANAFF - highly appreciated the professionalism in the organization of DANAFF II.

Ms. Ngo Phuong Lan believes that all the events and activities at DANAFF II have created a vibrant, harmonious, youthful and energetic symphony that the distinguished guests, artists, filmmakers and audiences will surely feel.

At the closing ceremony of DANAFF II, in the Asian Film Competition category, the highest award - Best Asian Film was given to the Vietnamese film "Cu li khong bao nuoc".

The Best Director Award also went to Vietnam: director Pham Thien An with the film "Inside the Golden Cocoon". The Special Jury Prize went to the film "Ann's Life" (Japan).

The Best Screenplay Award was given to Liu Jiayin (China) for the film "Worthy Lives"; the Best Actor Award: Kang Ren (Hong Kong - China) for the film "Eternal Wish"; the Best Actress Award: Yuumi Kawai (Japan) for the film "Ann's Life".

In the Vietnamese Film Competition category, the film "Mai" by director Tran Thanh won 3 awards: Best Film; Best Actress (Phuong Anh Dao) and Best Director (Tran Thanh).

Meanwhile, "Lat mat 7: Mot giau uoc" directed by Ly Hai won the award for Best Cast. In addition, the NETPAC (The Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) award for outstanding Vietnamese film decided by the NETPAC Jury also went to the film "Lat mat 7 - Mot giau uoc".
