
On the night of April 10, 2025 (local time), at the 221st Session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) taking place in Paris (France), the Document Collection of Vietnamese musician Hoang Van (1930-2018) was recognized by UNESCO as a World Documentary Heritage.
The collection has met many important UNESCO criteria, especially those of historical significance and universal value.
The collection provides valuable information for scholars studying cultural and musical developments in Vietnam in the post-colonial context, as well as insights into cultural exchange within the socialist bloc; it has profound content, rich musical genres and forms.
The collection also illustrates the symbiosis of European and Asian musical traditions, demonstrating the importance of the interplay between Eastern and Western musical streams.
This is the 11th documentary heritage of Vietnam recognized by UNESCO./.
