People's Artist Luu Thi Bich Lien made a beautiful impression with "The Swan Shirt"

On the evening of April 11, Deputy Director of the Southern Arts Theater (now the Ho Chi Minh City Arts Center), People's Artist Luu Bich Lien reported her graduation from the university directing class (K2 part-time program) with the play "The Swan's Ao Dai" at the Thu Do Theater.

Although not exactly a combination of theater, circus and puppetry as the audience expected, the play has some acts of these two arts interwoven, increasing the appeal of the two best scenes of the play: the scene where the true feelings of two souls in love and striving for peace arise and the final scene when the two are separated in the vast blue waves, Trong Thuy - My Chau is forever a beautiful legend about a faithful love but was turned into a plot by forces, separating them in pain.

People's Artist Luu Thi Bich Lien said that her strength is not in staging plays. Although she had prepared a circus play, one of the four actors had an accident, so the project had to be shelved. Instead, she was allowed by the family of the late author Le Duy Hanh to stage a new version of the play "Swan's Coat" (edited by Do Duc Thinh) for her graduation report, and she made a success of it.

This is considered her first graduation work after 4 years of studying at Ho Chi Minh City University of Drama under the guidance of Associate Professor Dr. Tran Yen Chi. The play was directed by People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau.

Originally a circus performer, People's Artist Luu Thi Bich Lien has won many individual awards at international and domestic circus festivals. She received support from the Southern Arts Theater and the Ho Chi Minh City Hat Boi Arts Theater to complete the play and receive applause from the audience.

Actor Hoang Do plays the role of Cao Thuc with great emotion.

In fact, the female director has renewed the story "The Swan's Dress" with concise and delicate dramatic situations, the young actors have told the beautiful love story of Trong Thuy and My Chau with genuine emotions. The most outstanding is the mature acting style of Hoang Do in the role of Cao Thuc. He acted with full power, showing a strong and masculine appearance, showing his great patriotism and desire to have My Chau's love. The scene where he was imprisoned and gave the stone of love to My Chau in the dark prison, but was rejected, was a very emotional scene.

Nhat Hoa plays the role of Trong Thuy very delicately, expressing the love and trust placed in the heart of the person he wants to marry, even though he knows that love is just an excuse to invade Au Lac, but Nhat Hoa's Trong Thuy dares to face the wrath of his father - Trieu Da, just to protect the love that permeates his heart for My Chau.

In addition, young actors such as Mong Huyen, Tran Minh Bao Quoc, Thien Di, Ta Tuan, Chau Huu Tai... coordinated very well to make the play create a beautiful impression. The play also had circus artists: Thanh Hoa, Hien Phuoc, Truc Vy and puppeteers from Phuong Nam Art Theater supporting, performing a few acts showing the application of circus and puppetry in the play.

Compared to the legend, the play's script by author Le Duy Hanh has changed many details and People's Artist Luu Thi Bich Lien has made efforts to renew each scene, so that when it ends, the situations all carry a humane message.

The play is captivating because of the scheming scene of the spy from Phien Nung - Nhan Tan, who must have devised a treacherous plan to secretly control all the military forces of Au Lac, then took advantage of the gullibility of An Duong Vuong who wanted to enjoy peace after a long period of war to send troops to invade Au Lac.

Present in the audience, experts came to watch and cheer, congratulate the young actors for their performance, even though they were all tired after a very long rehearsal process in hot conditions because Thu Do Theater (Ho Chi Minh City Opera House) did not have an air conditioning system.

And in that hardship, everyone congratulated the great efforts of People's Artist Luu Thi Bich Lien, hoping that after this play she will stage many attractive art programs to serve the public when they come to the Ho Chi Minh City Art Center.
