Illegal construction in Vuong Hong Sen ancient house is being partially dismantled

On the afternoon of March 17, Tuoi Tre Online recorded that the ancient houseof Vuong Hong Sen at address 11 (old number 9/1) Nguyen Thien Thuat Street, Ward 14, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City was littered with bricks, stones, and household items.

Some households have moved out of the ancient house of Vuong Hong Sen.

This is a trace of people actively demolishing illegal constructions and moving assets elsewhere. The facade of the old house is more open, and the surrounding shops no longer obstruct the view.

Previously, on March 3, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hop - Chairwoman of Ward 14 People's Committee, Binh Thanh District - signed a notice on the implementation of the decision to enforce the decision of Binh Thanh District People's Committee on enforcement, forcing the implementation of remedial measures regarding construction activities at the house and land at No. 11 Nguyen Thien Thuat Street, Ward 14.

According to the announcement, the People's Committee of Ward 14, Binh Thanh District forced the demolition of the construction at the main block of buildings including:

1st floor (central yard), area 17.08m² with brick wall structure, corrugated iron roof, iron door frame, west direction of main house, time of violation in 2015.

1st floor area 133.72m² with brick wall structure, iron frame, corrugated iron roof, north direction of main building, violation in 2017.

The first floor has an area of 28.74m² and the mezzanine floor has an area of 12.55m², with brick walls, plywood walls, cemboard floor (cement sheet), corrugated iron roof, facing east of the main building, violated in 2017.

1st floor area 174.99m², brick wall structure, corrugated iron, iron frame, corrugated iron roof, canvas roof, south direction of main building. Time of violation in 2016.

The first floor includes a corrugated iron roof with an area of 38.18m², the second floor has an area of 18.09m², brick wall structure, wooden floor, corrugated iron roof.

Organize to dismantle illegal constructions on March 25

Notice requesting Mr. and Mrs. Vo Thi Be, Tran Hoang Hieu (Nguyen Thi Thu Ha), To Thi Truc Van, Tran Bich Thuy, Nguyen Thi Mai Hoan, Nguyen Minh Trieu, Nguyen Thi Thanh Lan, Nguyen Thi Bich Phuong to move their assets out of the area of Vuong Hong Sen ancient house (No. 11 Nguyen Thien Thuat, Ward 14, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) before March 15, 2025.

If you do not voluntarily relocate, the People's Committee of Ward 14, Binh Thanh District will organize enforcement according to regulations.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Chairwoman of Ward 14 People's Committee, Binh Thanh District Nguyen Thi Thanh Hop said that currently some households have moved away from 11 Nguyen Thien Thuat.

By March 25, Ward 14 People's Committee still has to organize the demolition of illegal constructions to hand over the vacant land.

On October 14, 2024, the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City issued a decision to suspend the settlement of the civil case of property ownership dispute between Ms. Vuong Hong Lien Huong and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, because it found that the plaintiff, Ms. Vuong Hong Lien Huong (granddaughter of scholar Vuong Hong Sen), had submitted a request to withdraw the entire lawsuit.

Previously, in 2005, Ms. Vuong Hong Lien Huong filed a lawsuit over inheritance dispute against the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
