At around 10:15 p.m., a fire broke out at a row of plastic stalls at Thanh Da market kiosks. At that time, the above kiosks had stopped operating and were closed.
When discovering the fire, people mobilized fire extinguishers and pulled out water hoses to put out the fire, however the fire was too big and spread so it could not be controlled.

Many people said that the fire from the plastic goods kiosk then spread to the clothing and children's toy kiosks.
The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police Department, dispatched many fire prevention and rescue teams from districts to the scene to put out the fire. Ladder trucks, ambulances and many other vehicles were mobilized to prevent people from being trapped inside the fire.

Many merchants, after hearing the news of the fire, rushed to the scene to collect goods and assets to move out. Many people were too late and had to helplessly watch their stores engulfed in flames. These merchants said that most of the kiosks had cleaned up their goods and closed by the end of the afternoon, and no one stayed overnight. There were two cases of minor injuries while participating in the fire fighting, which were treated by medical staff and taken to the hospital.

At the scene, the fire was still smoldering inside, and authorities were on hand to put out the remaining flames. The cause and damage after the fire are being clarified.
